Kelly Ripa Was 'Playing To An Audience Of One' When Madonna Began Following Her On Social Media

When Kelly Ripa found out Madonna was following her on social media, she shifted her thought process and began posting to "an audience of one." During a recent appearance on the "Everything Iconic" podcast, she explained how things changed for her finding out that Madonna was a follower.

Ripa, 52, revealed on the podcast that once she found out Madonna was following her, she began to post more shirtless snaps of husband Mark Consuelos in the hopes of getting some attention from the iconic pop star.

"That happened to me when Madonna followed me and Isaac Boots told me. He's like, 'Oh my god. Madonna followed you and I was like, 'What? What? What?' and I immediately sort of changed everything I posted," she explained to podcast host Danny Pellegrino. "I started posting only shirtless photos of Mark because I was like, 'Madonna doesn't want to see my kids. She wants to see eye candy.'"

The change in her social media posting strategy automatically switched in her mind and she forgot for a bit that she had millions of other followers watching her posts. "It seemed so dark sided," she said. "My thought bubbles of Madonna following me and me feeding her something was like, forget anybody else. I was playing to an audience of one for a while."

Ripa discussed being star struck when Madonna is a guest on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" and how exciting that experience is and will always be. "There's no level of Madonna, Madonna could come on my show every day for the next 25 years, I could live in the same house with her and she will always get that reaction from me because she is simply the greatest showman on earth. She will always be, end of story," she explained. "I just love her, I think she is so provocative and smart and clever, and a real revolutionary in terms of what she's done with music and the music industry."

The talk show host then explained the time Madonna showed up to one of Andy Cohen's parties. "I vomited Madonna trivia at Madonna to the point where, I believe it was Mark who dragged me away," she explained.

While Ripa was trying to post more "eye candy" to catch Madonna's attention, she's known for showing off her husband on social media. A photo shared on Instagram in August captioned, "Adequate sun protection? ?☀️?," qualifies as one of those eye candy or thirst trap photos. The post received more than 28,000 likes and tons of comments such as, "hotdad," "The hat though!!!!?," and "Thank you for sharing," among many flame and heart emojis.

Ripa and Consuelos celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary earlier this year. The couple shares three children, Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19.
