Rapper 50 Cent and T.I. are calling for the investigation into Tamla Horsford’s death to be reopened as protests continue to grow for justice.
T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) posted a photo spreading around social media of Tamla on the last day she was alive. The photo reads, “Tamla Horsford was murdered while she attended a sleepover with 7 white women. She was beaten and thrown off a balcony. This was the LAST picture she took before her death. Did anyone forget this?”
50 Cent posted the same photo writing, “where is the investigation on this one? SMH?♂#bransoncognac #lecheminduroi.”
Back in November 2018, Tamla, a mother of six, attended an adult sleepover with friends
Recently, a Florida attorney Ralph E. Fernandez reviewed the case and found issues with the investigation. On June 5, he wrote a letter to Tamla’s husband Leander laying out his findings.
In the letter, he claimed to have uncovered conflicting witness statements, a tampered crime scene, evidence was mishandled and questions about the autopsy. He believed Tamla’s death may have been a homicide based on her injuries being “consistent” with being in a “physical struggle.?
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office police reports, Tamla arrived to her friends home at 10 p.m. on November 3, 2018. She was the only black women in the all-white group. They reportedly drank “heavily”, played board games and watched television. According to witnesses, Tamla went to the back porch to smoke a cigarette around 2 a.m.
The following morning Tamla’s body was found “motionless” under the porch in the backyard. The homeowner claimed to have called police right away but many question this claim.
BREAKING:
In an explosive letter, lawyer for the family of Tamla Horsford, a Forsyth County woman who died under mysterious circumstances at a house party in 2018, says his review of evidence “reflects that homicide is a strong possibility.” pic.twitter.com/3AC4CeWjmD— Mike Petchenik (@Mike_Petchenik) June 6, 2020
According to the GBI Medical Examiners Report, officials found severe injuries to Tamla’s head, neck and torso. The report noted there were cuts to her face, wrist, hand and lower legs. Further, it was reported she had a “laceration to the right ventricle” of her heart. The officials called her death an accident and the case was closed.
Things started to get weird when one witness, Jose Barrera, used his position at the Forsyth County court system to access a report from the incident. His decision to access the report without permission led to him being fired.
Tamla’s family has questioned the investigation and called out the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Her husband previously spoke out, “I want the truth of what’s going on, because I mean, the stories I’ve heard so far, none of them make sense. And if they don’t make sense, usually there’s a reason they don’t make sense.”
