Dee Nguyen will not be on any future episodes of MTV's "The Challenge: Total Madness" after controversial and offensive comments she made on social media regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. The network announced its decision on Monday night.

The troubles started for Nguyen when she shared a Black Out Tuesday post on Instagram last week. Some fans condemned the post because she used the hashtag "#blacklivesmatter" but did not share anything additional about the movement.

“Wake up! People are dying,” one commenter wrote.

Nguyen replied, “People die every f-cking day. U don’t know me or what I do. I suggest you wake the f-ck up and get off social media.”

Later she made things worse when she tweeted, “IDK why some of you think I’m anti-BLM. I’ve been saying that since the day I lost my virginity.”

The comments were called out by "The Challenge" co-stars Swaggy C and Bayleigh Dayton.

After MTV made the decision to fire Nguyen, she took to Instagram to issue an apology.

"The last 24 hours have made me realize what is important and that is forgiveness. I would like to offer my sincerest apology to my colleagues whom I have hurt directly and indirectly due to my insensitive remarks. Let me be clear, I am a POC who cares about BLM. I believe in this movement and I’m stepping away from social media to focus on my well-being and mental health.”

MTV explained its decision in a tweet. "As a result of Dee Nguyen’s offensive comments on the Black Lives Matter movement, we have severed ties with her," the company said. "

Out of respect for our Challengers, we'll air our season as planned. We strongly condemn systemic racism and stand with those raising their voices against injustice."

There has been a heightened awareness and sensitivity to the problems with police brutality and systemic racism since George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police in the street on May 25th.

Since then, the Black Lives Matter protests have extended to all 50 states and D.C. as hundreds of thousands have demanded justice for nearly two weeks.

Former police officer Derek Chauvin is charged with second degree murder and manslaughter for the killing of Floyd. He was caught on camera kneeling on the back of Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes.

Three other former police officers who were involved in the incident -- Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane -- were charged with aiding and abetting a murder.
