Only one day removed from Gabrielle Union’s highly-publicized comments about institutionalized racism within NBC’s offices, reality star Blac Chyna has also thrown her name into the fray, calling out the network for allegedly cancelling her show ‘Rob & Chyna’ due to racist beliefs.
Now, she is insinuating that NBC never informed her of any allegations stemming from her 2017 lawsuit against the Kardashian family, something she says is an element of systematic racism within their organization, and would not have happened if she wasn’t a black woman.
In her statement about the actions NBC allegedly did not take at the time that contributed to the cancellation of her show, Chyna addressed the racial inequalities she felt were rampant within the network.
“Had Chyna been a white reality TV star, rather than the ‘unicorn’ black reality TV star,” then Jenner “either never would have been made in the first place or her false accusation would have been quickly investigated by E! and NBCUniversal and proven false,” the statement read.
Chyna’s statement then went on to mention that three white “executive-level decision-makers at the E! Network and NBCUniversal … completely denied any due process to their black reality TV star regarding the fate of Season 2 of ‘Rob & Chyna.'”
Chyna’s allegation of racism perpetrated by the network comes at a time when racial tensions are at an all time high in the United States, with massive protests regarding equality are being held from coast to coast in a response to police brutality.
In a statement shared with ‘HollywoodLife’, Kardashian lawyer Marty Singer said the defaming comments about the Kardashian family perpetrated by Chyna were false and were only being shared to capitalize on the hightened racial tensions of the time, something they condemn.
“This is a 2 year old lawsuit in which Chyna has changed her defense more times than we can count. Sadly, unsurpising to anyone, she has stooped to a new low, changing her defense to try to leverage the emotions and pain of the moment, insulting the pain and suffering of real victims of racial injustice and systemic racism,” the statement read.
“We take these allegations very seriously and once again, there is no Rob & Chyna show if there is no Rob & Chyna,” the statement concluded, claiming that the issue is a ploy for attention by Chyna and that no actual racial injustice has been perpetrated at the hands of NBC or its affiliates.
Chyna is yet to respond to Singer’s statement, but given the length these legal proceedings have carried on for as is, a resolution may still be some time away.
