Michael Jackson's son, Prince, reached into his dad's lyrics to choose the right words to express the outrage, he and many people are feeling, after the brutal murder of George Floyd.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Prince Jackson issued a statement regarding the changes that need to be made in the system to end systemic racism against the black community -- and he felt a line from one of his father's songs should be heard.
“Beat me…Hate me…You can never break me.” — Michael Jackson," he wrote.

The quote is from the Michael Jackson hit, 'They Don’t Care About Us' which addresses issues such as racism and police brutality.
Along with quoting his father's famous song, Prince also spoke to his followers and dad's fans about the current situation.
"I’m going to speak from the heart, because that’s all I know how to do. We wouldn’t be here without black culture. Black culture is about strength. Black culture is about perseverance. Black culture is about resilience. Black culture is about a call for change. No more politicians’ promises. No more conversations. No more cycles of racism, abuse, and pain," he wrote.
Prince continued, "The system needs to listen to the community’s cries—now. The system needs to change forever—now. There’s a lot the system can do to you, but when you give up, they win. Don’t let the system hold you down."
In MJ's son's Instagram post he quoted Dylan Thomas, saying, “Do not go gentle into that good night.”
He continued, "No matter what they throw at us, let’s support each other and not let it break us. At the moment, the best way to heal and move forward is to help one another. We will always be stronger together."

Prince put it simply "Black culture is American culture. Black community is American community. Black heritage is American heritage."
MJ's son posted his message alongside a painting of George Floyd, and urged his followers, "Let’s stand behind that together. Do not destroy one another. Do not harm or hurt one another. Stand up for one another. Look out for one another. Love one another."
Fans stood by him, flooding his IG page with comments in support of his statement. "You’re an inspiration like your Dad!!! God Bless you everyday Prince Jackson✨???" one person wrote.
