It looks like this year was a good year for the "2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade." Deadline reports that the NBC broadcast of this year's event drew the ceremony's largest audience in five years, totaling 27.7 million viewers.

The '2022 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade' Draws Biggest TV Audience in Five Years

According to Nielsen numbers, this year's Thanksgiving Parade broadcast on NBC drew a 7.2 rating in the key demographic of persons 18-49 and 27.7 million viewers. The 27.7 million viewers figure includes digital viewing, streaming on Peacock, and encore viewing as well.

Per the Nielsen stats, the numbers overall come out to the most total viewers ever for the parade event in five years.

As noted by Deadline, the Thursday, November 24 live broadcast is also NBC's highest-rated entertainment program in the key demo and total viewers for the year. The live telecast reportedly drew a 5.5 rating in the key demo and a total of 22.3 million viewers.

For NBCUniversal's Peacock app, the livestream was the streaming service's biggest simulstream event ever. The ceremony is said to have doubled the reach of the 2021 edition.

It also appears the holiday cheer also spread through other NBC broadcasts for the rest of the day. Elsewhere, this year's "National Dog Show Presented by Purina" also drew some solid numbers. "The National Dog Show" aired on NBC immediately after the parade. This year's program drew a 2.8 rating in the demo and 11.2 million viewers overall, including streaming numbers.

Also, the Thanksgiving day airing of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" earned a 0.90 rating in the key demo and 3.4 million viewers. As noted by Deadline, these are the best numbers for "The Tonight Show" in the key demo and total viewers metric in three years.

Finally, last night's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" drew an average 0.90 key demo rating and 1.7 million viewers. This was the most-watched edition of "Late Night" in three years as well.

This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a festive event. As reported by The Blast, singer Mariah Carey performed at the event and danced alongside her 11-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. She wrote on her Instagram on the event, "Happy Thanksgiving!!! Grateful and so proud of my beautiful kids Roc and Roe, grateful for the lambily and for the precious moments in life. Now it’s reaaaallly time!!!"

The viral sensation Tariq, "The Corn Kid," also got to appear during the parade. He appeared on the Jolly Green Giant's "Harvest in the Valley" float along with singer Jordan Davis during the event.

This year's event was hosted by Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Savannah Guthrie. It included performances from The Rocket City Rockettes, a look at the magic of some Broadway musicals, and all manner of floats of balloons, including Grogu from "The Mandalorian," The Pillsbury Doughboy, McDonald's mascot Ronald McDonald, Goku from "Dragon Ball Super," and "Smokey the Bear."

This year marked the 96th edition of the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade," which first began in 1924.
