Kim Zolciak Under Fire For Promoting Salty K Swimwear Amid Protests But Did Observe Blackout Tuesday

Kim Zolciak launched her new swimwear line, Salty K, over the weekend as she's been planning to do for months but unfortunately, many of her social media fans and followers didn't think it was appropriate for her to do so.
As her former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" co-stars, including Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams, attended peaceful protests in Atlanta over the tragic death of George Floyd, who died after a cop knelt on his neck for several minutes arrest last month, Kim took to Instagram to promote her collection and was quickly targeted with criticism from fans.

“Today is the Day @saltykswim is launching at 3pm/EST I can’t wait!!! So many swimsuits will be coming your way this summer!! A huge THANK YOU to my hubby who helped make my dream a reality. This would not have been possible without you @kroybiermann I love you to the moon and back a million times and I’m forever grateful for you! P.S. I know you guys will love the feel of my fabric,” she captioned her June 1 post.

After sharing her Instagram post, a number of fans and followers of Kim's on Twitter lashed out at her for celebrating the launch of her swimwear collection amid the ongoing protests against racism and police brutality.
"You think launching a new swim suite line is appropriate right now? I mean we have no funds to purchase maybe you can help fight police brutality first!!!" one person wrote in response to Kim's announcement, as reported by The Cheat Sheet on June 1.

“Are you really this unaware of what’s happening right now,” asked another Twitter user.
“Who cares about you flogging your products…there are people dying out here. And people rioting in the streets because of police brutality and all you care about is selling some meaningless product? You are sooooooo shallow,” a third person wrote to Kim.
According to a number of social media users, Kim should have been focused on the efforts of the Black Lives Matter movement, not her own financial gain.

While Kim didn't respond directly to the backlash, she did share a couple of posts promoting the Black Lives Matter movement on her Instagram page and did observe Blackout Tuesday, which promoted awareness to the cause.
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta"'s three-part virtual reunion came to an end last month after a dramatic storm-off from Nene Leakes and filming has not yet begun on the series' upcoming 13th season.
As for the upcoming eighth season of Kim's spinoff series, "Don't Be Tardy," that show is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime this summer.
