Ellen Pompeo recently had an interview with Backstage where she had the opportunity to discuss one of her longest crushes she’s had on one of her co-stars. The now 50-year-old actress shared several enlightening facts about her career, ambitions, and early doubts in her life.

Although the actress is well-known around the world after taking several prestigious roles, she didn’t start out popular in the slightest. After making her first acting appearance in 1995, she shared how “crazy” it seemed to her that she could possibly make it as an actress.

The “Life of the Party” actress continued her interview by saying that an actor she had a bedroom scene with has been a long-time crush of hers. And that lucky fellow is none other than Leonardo DiCaprio.

Having such an intimate scene with the actor was evidently a memorable moment for Ellen as she continued to praise him as a wonderful actor. She went on to say that she thinks he should have gotten an Academy Award much sooner than 2016.

Fans were intrigued to find out that Ellen also had a crush on Matt Damon. During her interview, however, she said Leonardo was her favorite crush after sharing that aforementioned bedroom scene in 2002’s “Catch Me If You Can”.

Some have speculated that maybe her high praise would be enough for DiCaprio to make a guest appearance on “Grey’s Anatomy” seeing as how him and Ellen hit it off so well.

Though Ellen did in fact share some rather shocking details about how she was pleased with Patrick Dempsey leaving the show, which could scare DeCaprio away.

In a detailed interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen said that she had many conflicted feelings about how she was treated by producers while Patrick Dempsey remained part of the cast. When asked what kept her there instead of leaving, she replied:

“Why should I walk away from a great part because of a guy? You feel conflicted but then you figure, ‘I’m not going to let a guy drive me out of my own house.’”

She continued the interview by detailing how being able to have more control over “Grey’s Anatomy” has been amazing.

Shonda Rhimes, well known for her time producing “Grey’s Anatomy” has an amazing relationship with Ellen. When asked what she thought about Shonda, Ellen told the press that she owes a lot to her.

Being made “a producer on this show” gave her tremendous control over its direction, while being made a “co-executive producer on the spinoff “ was like icing on the cake. To make it even better, the show became so successful that Pompeo became one of the highest-paid actresses in the world ranking among the top 10.
