Steve Kerr Says Officer Killing Unarmed Minnesota Black Man George Floyd Is "Disgusting" And "Murder"

Golden State Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has always done a great job of using his white privilege on his large platform to address social issues in America such as racism and police brutality. He has also called out the bad job that Donald Trump has done as president on numerous occasions.

Now, Kerr is stepping up on Twitter in addressing the killing of unarmed black man, 46-year-old George Floyd, by a police officer with other officers nearby in Minneapolis. The officer had his knee on Floyd's neck for seven minutes as he died on the scene.

"This is murder," said Kerr on Twitter. Disgusting. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with US????"

Kerr went on to retweet a story by CBS as W. Kamau Bell said "Always remember that police bought Dylann Roof some Burger King after he had murdered 9 Black people. George Floyd was accused of forgery."

An FBI investigation is now underway due to this incident. Police labeled Floyd as having a "medical incident" during an attempted arrest. When Floyd told the officer that he couldn't breathe, he still proceeded to keep his knee on his neck.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke at a press conference today and condemned the behavior of the officer by saying “Being black in America should not be a death sentence. What we saw is horrible, completely and utterly messed up.”

The incident originally occurred on Monday night after 8pm at the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue South. Police wrongfully accused Floyd of using forged documents at Cup Foods. They also accused Floyd of being intoxicated and also resisting arrest even though there was no evidence of that.

“After he got out, he physically resisted officers,” police spokesman John Elder told reporters early Tuesday. “Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and officers noticed that the man was going into medical distress.”

A nearby person that witnessed the incident also told the guilty cop that Floyd wasn't even resisting arrest. He added that the cop is preventing Floyd from being able to breathe. The cop didn't end up getting off of Floyd until an ambulance arrived at the scene.

The officer who had his knee on Floyd's neck has also reportedly been identified as Derek Chauvin. He and other officers at the scene have also been “relieved of duty status."

Lt. Bob Kroll, from the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis, is also trying to defend these officers.

“Now is not the time rush to judgement and immediately condemn our officers. An in-depth investigation is underway. Our officers are fully cooperating. We must review all video. We must wait for the medical examiner’s report."

Salute to people like Kerr who use their platform to shed light on issues like this in America. Cops like Chauvin has no business doing this in the middle of a pandemic either. All four cops at the scene have since been fired.
