Supporters of Johnny Depp are not happy about the inclusion of Amber Heard in a campaign about women in Hollywood and have organized a grassroots effort to protest the company responsible.

The drama went down over Memorial Day Weekend when the Instagram account for L'Oréal Paris included Heard in a collection of filmmakers that was themed with the hashtag #WomenMakeCinema. Heard has been a longtime L'Oréal spokesperson, so it's no surprise that the actress would be listed among other female filmmakers like Eva Longoria, Elle Fanning and Helen Mirren.

The campaign by L'Oréal was launched as a response to the cancellation of this year's Cannes Film Festival due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of covering the red carpet looks, the cosmetics company decided to honor some of their most famous faces.

"Hollywood actress @AmberHeard highlights that a woman's inner beauty is what we should value the most. ‘I would love to see women be able to be powerful, smart, opinioned, and taken seriously, even if they are beautiful. Even more, I would love to see women held to different standards, other than the superficial ones we are held to," the caption reads underneath Heard's post.

As the ongoing legal war between Amber Heard and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, continues, fans of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" star were angered to see L'Oréal pay tribute to Heard.

"She abused Johnny Depp then lied and said he beat her. Nope. Won’t buy. She really cut the tip of his finger off. Y’all keep supporting Domestic violence," one fan commented on the post.

"She discredited abused females just to have some millions on her bank account. I don’t see what’s the link between a brand such a l’Oreal Paris that should empower women? Im gonna unfollow you and never buy your products again," another upset customer promised.

The backlash came strong as hundreds of comments were logged on the posts concerning Heard. There were still supportive comments by fans of the actress, but they were few and far between the reactions from Depp's supporters.

Even though the post stirred up so much controversy, L'Oréal doubled and tripled down by posting more about Amber Heard with the hashtag #WomenMakeCinema, along with running a promo for hair coloring featuring the "Aquaman" actress.

"Good job at using her bad reputation to get some attention ?Real smart," one disappointed fan commented.
