Former Danity Kane group member, Aubrey O’Day, recalled the backlash she received in 2020 for allegedly editing her photos to look thinner.
The singer was trolled by some social media users after several photos of herself that surfaced online seemed to suggest that her physical size in her Instagram posts didn’t match how she actually looked.
At the time, the reality star shared that the allegations were false and demeaning and questioned why it was normal practice to abuse women’s bodies. She recently revealed that she had not recovered from the then-trolling.

Aubrey O’Day Is Still Trying To Heal

O’Day revealed in an interview with E! News that she hasn’t fully recovered from the negative feedback she received when a set of her own photos that suggested she was out of shape went viral in 2020.
“It was my downfall day,” she reflected on the horrid ordeal. “When it came time to laugh at me, everybody was laughing.”
The 38-year-old went on to say that she had faced similar criticism of her body in the past but admitted that the trolling she got after the pictures made headlines still stung her deeply.
“My body’s been on the chopping block since I was 17. Those were not the first fat photos,” she revealed, per the publication. “There’s been a lot of fat photos of Aubrey, and I wasn’t even fat.”
The Danity Kane alum added, “I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to heal with how many inaccurate things have been told about me.”
Aubrey O’Day Was Accused Of Editing Her Pictures To Look Thinner

O’Day faced backlash after The Daily Mail published a couple of photos of the singer that were taken while she was out with her dogs.
The publication reported at the time that O’Day was unrecognizable when compared with her social media look. Soon after, the reality star was mocked on social media by a number of fans who claimed that she had heavily altered her earlier Instagram images to make herself look slimmer.
At the time, O’Day responded to the negative remarks about her figure by uploading a swimwear photo of herself holding a piece of paper with the words, “this is demeaning.”
The write-up also had scribbled on it the time and date she took the picture as proof to refute the allegations.
“It’s so sick what ppl will do for click bait!” the reality star commented at the time, per E!. “And that my lawyer needed this photo to defend me against it… When is this industry going to stop abusing women’s bodies?”
Aubrey O’Day Admitted To Photoshopping Herself Into Her Vacation Posts

O’Day experienced further criticism a few months ago after a TikToker challenged the validity of the singer’s Instagram vacation photographs, which showed her in locations like Bali and Greece.
The Tiktoker, in a since-deleted video, alleged that O’Day was fond of photoshopping herself into vacation spots. In response, the 38-year-old penned a lengthy, passionate statement where she admitted to the allegations and explained her actions.
She said at the time, “A lot of the shots I give y’all are in places you have to spend hours scaling mountains to get to…. A pic of me drenched with pit stains after hiking for 2 hours to a location just doesn’t excite me visually.. it saddens me that so many people need the picture to look that way in order to feel like my travels were real, or that my experiences and growth are authentic.”
‘Respect My Aesthetic’

In her then-post, the singer also asked fans to respect her content rather than look for ways to criticize it all the time.
O’Day continued, “If I want my Instagram to be curated like a museum of ART then that’s what the f*ck is going to happen…….Respect my aesthetic, I work hard to give y’all beautiful content that feels the way the places I travel vibrate.. and i get nothing from sharing the beauty other than the joy of wanting y’all to vibrate high with me.”
The singer also dissed her TikTok troll, asking the individual to invest their time in more positive things.
She remarked, “you don’t need to concentrate on others to be your own version of special and necessary in this world.. you can make positive changes just by using your own gifts.. stop looking left and right if you want to move forward.”
