Candace Cameron Bure is quickly losing the support of her entertainment colleagues.

The “Full House” actress recently made a slight at the LGBTQ+ community while discussing her role at the Great American Family (GAF) network.

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal she made the statement about the network having “traditional marriage at the core.”

Bure had the audacity to say, “I think the Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

That said, she also softened the statement by saying, that none of the content she will make will be “off-putting to the unbeliever or someone who shares a different faith.”

Bure is the chief creative officer for the Great American Family (GAF) network

GAF was founded by Bill Abbott, the former Hallmark Channel CEO. He said of featuring same-sex couples on the network, "It's certainly the year 2022, so we're aware of the trends. There's no whiteboard that says, 'Yes, this' or 'No, we'll never go here.'”

She explained her reason for moving from Hallmark to GAF.

“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” Bure said. “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”

Candace Cameron Called A "Bigot" By Hilarie Burton

Following her remark, Burton publicly called Bure a “Bigot” on Twitter.

The tweet read, “Bigot. I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank.”

Over the weekend, a gunman in Colorado went on a shooting rampage at an LGBTQ+ club called Club Q. Five people were killed and over 20 others were injured.

Burton doubled down on her stance toward “bigot” Bure.

She retweeted a Washington Post article about the shooting and replied, “ THIS! This is why we have to speak out against bigotry of any kind - even the “aren’t-I-cute-girl-next-door” bullshit that I called out last week. The bigotry of @GAFamily is the most dangerous kind. It normalizes exclusion under the guise of “protecting traditional values.”

Hilarie Doubles Down On "Bigot" Bure

She continued, “It’s the excuse of white German women in the 1930s. It’s a dog whistle for protecting white supremacy. So when Candy and Bill Abbott and GAF wanna “protect traditional values” against LGBTQ influence? This is what happens. Look no further than the comments their fan base left on my social media accounts. I never said a word about Christianity. Newsflash: I am a lifelong Christian. But the sheer volume of people who felt emboldened to put their bigotry in writing - to live forever on the internet - was all the evidence you need.”

Burton concluded, “To the people of Colorado Springs, I am heartbroken and sending you love and fierce support. To my LGBTQ friends? I love you. You are perfect and made in God’s image and you deserve inclusion. To the bigots? Your “traditional values” killed at least five people last night.”

Many people on Twitter did not take kindly to this.

“You are so jealous of Candace Cameron! So you have to attack her,” one person replied.

Another replied, “Seriously? Get a life, look in the mirror, do more than read your "good book" & actually live your supposed Christian values. Oh, & maybe read a dictionary. Bcuz so far its "christians" like you that are the problem. Christians arent persecuted. People like you do the persecuting.”

@candacecbure I would totally be on the phone with my legal team,” wrote someone else.”

Burton is not alone in her distaste for Bure. JoJo Siwa has also been outspoken about the “shi**y” comments the actress has made about the LGBTQ+ community.
