There was a time when actor Tom Hiddleston was only interested in cars that could get him from point A to point B, but that was before someone paid him to drive a luxury car.
But let's back up first.
Hiddleston, who may be best known as playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, once drove a Peugeot 106.
According to Cheatsheet, he bought that when he got his first big paycheck from HBO.
“It was just enough to afford a Peugeot 106 1.1. I had it for 10 years, and I drove it around France and Spain," he told Shortlist in 2015.

Apparently Hiddleston was really into his Puegeot and he loved darting around in it while in Europe. But the car was stolen during a press junket he was doing for The Night Manager.
Whoever stole the car then went on a joyride with it and damaged it, and the car was impounded.
So Hiddleston was carless, putting him in an odd spot for an actor.

But then Hiddleston decided to go into an advertising deal with Jaguar in 2015. When you advertise for a car company, it seems to be standard protocol that you have to act like you like the car, which, really, could not have been very difficult for Hiddleston.
But could driving a Jaguar convince him he could have a taste for luxury items? Of course it did.

“I used to think I wasn’t into that sort of thing until [the Jaguar] was in my possession," Hiddleston told Shortlist. The story went on to say that Hiddleston was driving a 2015 Jaguar F-type, and that the actor said he loved it.
“Goodness me, yes. It’s huge fun to drive.”
Cheatsheet cited online automotive research center Edmunds, saying this Jaguar had a supercharged, 3.0 liter V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission -- not too shabby.

If that's what Hiddleston was driving, he could theoretically go from 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds.
At the time the car was released, the 2015 Jaguar F-Type was the fastest car out there, even taking into account that he had the base model.
And if that wasn't enough speed, people could buy the Jaguar F-TYPE V8 S and get up to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. That's for when you really want to take a quick trip to the grocery store.
Now that Hiddleston is a well-established and hugely popular actor, he can probably get any Jaguar he wants and doesn't have to advertise for them to get it.
We hope the Puegeot still has a special place in his heart, though.
