Hilary Duff Accused of Sex Trafficking By Online Trolls Over Alleged Photo Of Son

Hilary Duff shot up Twitter trends early on Saturday morning with a series of fully-unsubstantiated and trolling allegations. They centered around an alleged self-posted Instagram video appearing to show Duff's son in the nude and with "white markings all over his body" – the "Younger" actress found herself taking #1 slot on Twitter, with the platform populating repeated and nasty mentions of her being a "sex trafficker" despite the claim being both from a deleted thread and clearly malicious in nature.
Hilary, 32, took to Instagram last month with an image of son Luca Cruz. The photo is alleged to see the former Disney star's child lying on a bed amid "postcard-sized" snaps.

A now-deleted thread reading: "Hilary Duff accused of child trafficking, with her own son, a thread...," generated a tirade of negative comments, although with time, backing for the star arrived.
"It was clearly a message to the devils of the elites that her son is for sale. There is no other explanation," was the bizarre and now-deleted message, also with a reported screenshot reading:
"Liz posted a very disturbing Instagram story last month. It showed her son completely naked and taped to a bed. It was quickly deleted, but Reddit saved the video and reported her. Her ex-husband has been trying to get custody of her son for years."

Quickly dubbed "baseless" by Pop Culture, the story continued to trend nonetheless, also seeing users back Duff.
"Twitter really is notorious for creating the most CONVOLUTED & RIDICULOUS stories about actual people... now Hilary Duff is a “child trafficker” ???? Y’all r having fun ruining lives & reputations. Knock that sh—t off, it’s not funny #hilaryduff," one user wrote.
Hilary, whose motherhood is lovingly documented on her Instagram, is also a parent to a girl named Banks Violet Blair. While Duff's hashtag briefly dropped to #3 on the social media platform, it quickly shot back up to top spot as the U.S. woke up to the story.

Early replies saw some users appearing to believe the allegations.
"Wait a min... hold on. Hilary Duff has been exposed as a sex trafficker??? A SEX TRAFFICKER? TO HER OWN CHILD?" one wrote.
"It's crazy how Hilary Duff was suing photographers back in Feb for taking pics of her kids....now I see why" was another comment.
Dubbed a "conspiracy theory" by Pop Culture and now, fortunately, with Hilary backed by much of Twitter, the star's storyline as an alleged sex trafficker will likely blow over as yet another example of social media's destructive side.

Hilary has yet to respond to the storm. The actress' last update, shared to her 15.1 million followers, came four days ago. It showed her daughter photographed in black-and-white and cuddling a dog as she sat outdoors, with the caption reading: "Really learned how much she loves MoMo this weekend.... #bearhugs."
Hilary welcomed son Luca with ex, Canadian NHL player Mike Comrie back in 2010. The former couple made headlines for their high-profile custody fight prior to their divorce being finalized in 2016.
