Ahead of Thanksgiving Week, Marvel Studios' "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" ruled atop the box office yet again for the second straight week. Per Box Office Mojo, The recently released sequel drew an estimated $67.3 million for its second frame, bringing its domestic total to about $288 million and now about $546 million worldwide.

As reported by The Blast, the film had a strong start in its opening weekend, raking in $181 million and about $330 million worldwide. Now it's nearing almost $300 million at the domestic box office and almost $600 million worldwide.

There wasn't much in the way of major competition over the weekend, enabling Marvel Studios to dominate the box office charts once again. "Wakanda Forever" did have a hefty dropoff of about 63% in its second weekend, but it was likely anticipated, especially with the film having such a large opening weekend of about $181.3 million.

The good news for Disney and Marvel Studios is that "Wakanda Forever"won't see much in the way of significant competition in the coming weeks, that is until James Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar" sequel, "Avatar: The Way of Water," is released next month. And that film is another Disney-owned property.

The only other major theatrical release this week is the Disney CG-animated feature, "Strange World." And with this being a holiday weekend, there definitely appears to be potential for 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' to top the charts for a third weekend in a row.

The other good news is that "Wakanda Forever" actually had a lower second-weekend dropoff than another 2022 Marvel Studios sequel, "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," which had the biggest box office opening weekend of the year with $187 million. The film dropped off 67% in its second weekend, but it still ended up making $411 million domestically and $955 million worldwide.

Meanwhile, another Marvel Studios sequel release in the summer, "Thor: Love and Thunder" had an opening weekend of $144 million and dropped off more than 67% in its second weekend as well. That film finished with $343 million domestically and $760 million worldwide.

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" is probably a more accurate range of where 'Black Panther' will likely end up. The film will likely not top the $700 million domestic and $1.38 billion worldwide take of the original, but considering the circumstances, "Wakanda Forever" is doing well.

"Wakanda Forever" taking a hit at the box office was a foregone conclusion, with the film not being released in China or Russia. Not to mention, the original was lightning in a bottle and also starred the late Chadwick Boseman. The film was a global phenomenon that audiences went crazy over. That type of excitement is sometimes hard to repeat for a sequel, no matter the size. Not to mention, the first "Black Panther" movie also came out in a pre-pandemic era.
