Coco Austin Talks Struggles With Motherhood: 'You Don't Hear What Good You Do'

Coco Austin is human just like everybody else.

The wife of Ice-T had a moment of vulnerability during her appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show.”

The talk-show host showed Coco a sweet video her husband sent in.

Ice took a video from the set of ‘Law & Order’ and told his wife, “This is a shoutout to my wife, Coco. You are the most incredible person I ever met, the nicest person I ever met and the best mother to Chanel, that anyone could possibly imagine. Alright, I love you to death. 22 years baby and it gets better every day.”

Coco was visibly emotional after watching the video and admitted, “as a mother you don’t hear that much.”

She continued to explain, “you don’t hear that much from everybody. I have the whole world and I’m underneath a microscope all the time and you don’t hear what good you do.”

Coco knows she’s a good mother.

“You don’t hear the goodness, you just hear a lot of bad,” she said through tears. “I’ve dedicated the last six years of putting everything aside, my career, everything just for her.”

Coco has been endlessly criticized by online mommy shamers for her parenting decisions. She still breastfeeds Chanel, pushes her in a stroller and allows her to take baths in the kitchen sink.

“You just want a little love. You just want a little respect from people,” Coco added.

The Blast previously reported on Coco’s decision to occasionally breastfeed Chanel.

In 2021, Ice tweeted, “News flash! We feed Chanel FOOD… She just likes to suck moms b**b every now and then… Me Too!!!”

Prior to Ice’s roast session on Twitter, Coco did an interview with Us Weekly where she explained her reason for continuing to breastfeed Chanel on occasion

“Chanel still likes my boobs. It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child,” she told the outlet. “Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”

On August 10, 2021, the mother-of-one appeared on E! with her daughter and opened up about her family life.

Coco said she doesn’t believe in the societal norms. The entire family co-sleeps together and that includes their fur babies.

"We call it the family bed. We have all the dogs, Chanel, that's our bonding time together. We incorporate our family bed every single night. We co-sleep and that's another one people want to get on. It's weird situation because I don't know why I have to explain myself," she said.

Well, explain she did when it came to her decision to continue feeding Chanel from her breasts.

"I just don't believe society says they should stop at two, you as a mother should stop because they said so" Coco explained about Chanel's age (5). "I'm [not] going to stop because I feel like it's a great bonding experience between her and I. She's my only child, it's not like I have a big family of kids, and so I'm savoring every moment with this child."

With that she asked Ice’s mini-me (they look identical) if she wanted a boob.

Chanel replied with a smile and “yeah.”

Despite where they are now with their breastfeeding journey, Coco didn’t always plan to produce this long.

"I always thought I wasn't going to go on and on with this breastfeeding thing

"I thought I would stop more like around one. Then I loved it too much, and I'm like, 'I feel like I'm wanted, like she wants me.' I think a lot of mothers would understand," Coco admitted.
