Debby Ryan 'Shouldn't Have Lied' When Her Marriage Certificate Leaked In January

Debby Ryan is officially married. She's actually been married for quite some time, which is why some are saying the ex-Disney darling is a liar.

The actress, 27, confirmed today she and Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun were quietly wed five months ago. Possibly more unnoticed than their December 2019 ceremony was their wedding certificate being leaked online the next week.

At the time, some went out of their way to defend Ryan's non-having of a wedding...but as it turns out, she really did have a wedding.

Ryan told Vogue they "began to flirt with the idea of having a destination party celebrating the new decade, then decided in December to get married [in Austin] on New Year’s Eve, and just keep dancing until after the ball dropped."

The pair, first linked in May 2013, became engaged in December 2018. Of their semi-recent wedding, Ryan says "the timing just felt right."

Her basis was a somber one, as a friend of hers had died the summer before.

"He was excited that Joshua and I were getting married, and I never doubted that I’d know him through every coming phase of our lives," Ryan said.

The unnamed friend is widely believed to be Cameron Boyce. The late actor, 20 at death, co-starred with Ryan on her leading Disney Channel series "Jessie" (from 2011-2015). He died in July 2019 after suffering a seizure.

Ryan wrote a lengthy letter on Instagram after his passing. Attached to three pictures, she wrote that "the world was robbed," and "we're better for you."

Though all-but-confirmed as Boyce, Ryan says, “When he passed, it really rocked me and put a lot of things in perspective."

"It didn’t feel important to wait anymore, to stop being busy, or for things to line up perfectly—intending to do things is not nearly as powerful as doing, as we aren’t promised tomorrow.”

The latest round of already-wed speculation came last month when Twenty One Pilots put out a music video for their song "Level of Concern." This was a result of drummer Dun donning a wedding ring in some of the clips.

What's missing is that they'd already been married for four months. In January, after the wedding certificate leaked on Reddit, someone slammed Ryan for "lying about something that apparently means so much to [her]."

The tweet caught heat from her fans. In response, the user asked, "lmao wtf she gonna do? hide her left hand for the rest of her life?"

"You act as if we don’t already know she got married, it’s the fact that she lied to us about it and continues to do so."

Their point of this alleged deceitfulness was brought up again today when another wrote that "Debby shouldn’t have lied."

"But some of y’all were being f---ing annoying and let’s not forget that you leaked their wedding certificate too."

Maybe this translates to "congratulations?"
