'90 Day Fiancé''s Geoffrey Says Varya Popping Up At His House While He Was With Mary Wasn't Staged

On Sunday's episode of '90 Day Fiancé',Geoffrey proposed to Varya while he was visiting her in Russia but he sadly got shut down. Viewers believe the main reason is that she is still worried about his criminal past where he went to prison for selling drugs. This left him returning home to his hometown of Knoxville, TN uncertain of what the future was going to hold regarding his relationship with Varya. His mindset at the time appeared to simply just move on.

When Geoffrey was back in Knoxville, he received a very surprising visit from Varya at his door. They started hugging and Mary soon appeared from behind. From that point, anticipation for next week's episode surged.

Geoffrey recently appeared in an interview on the Domenick Nati Show where he discussed the situation.

“From what you saw, it was roughly about three months. It was Mary’s birthday, that’s why I took her to dinner, that’s why I gave her flowers. The conversation moved into something more romantic and it kind of went from there. Then pretty much Varya showed up the next day. So it was like a quick, spontaneous thing going."

Geoffrey also emphasized that Varya randomly popping up at his house wasn't staged. He thought that the situation would just be the TLC crew shooting b-roll footage though. At the time, Mary was spending the night with him so when Varya showed up as well, Geoffrey was completely surprised.

“I hear people say, ‘Oh this is so staged. This is so fake.’ Completely. I was caught in the moment. You saw my sh*t-eating grin on. I didn’t know what to do. It felt like my heart went down to my toes. But it was completely in that moment. And Mary was still at my house from the night before."

At that time, it had also been three months since Geoffrey left Russia. His mindset was at the point where he was moving past what he had with Varya. This is why the surprise visit threw him off so much in that moment.

“In my mind, the show was wrapped. We’re just tying up loose ends. That’s what I was told anyway. And then with Mary going on… you know, three months. I wasn’t in mourning. It was like nobody died in that sense."

Geoffrey also clarified that Mary being a rebound was far from the truth. He revealed that they dated in the past and that he was just rekindling what they had before.

“It was just me getting over–it wasn’t a rebound because I was with Mary long ago and first. So if anything I was rekindling and basing it off of the emotions I was feeling. So when Varya showed up again it was kind of like, ‘What the hell? What do I do?’”
