The reality TV stars recently threw a fantastic gender reveal party for their unborn child, the first of its kind. The expectant parents documented the experience on their YouTube channel, “Follow The Forsyths.”
Although the couple previously had smaller gender reveals for their other children, this marked their first gender reveal party with their loved ones in attendance. Here is all that went down.
Joy-Anna Duggar And Austin Forsyth Use Their Mutual Hobby As Gender Reveal Theme
When the “19 Kids and Counting” alum had her first child, Gideon, the TV personality, and her husband waited until the boy was born to know his gender. For their second child, Evelyn, the lovebirds discovered their daughter’s gender before sharing the news with the family.
Now, for their third offspring, the dynamic duo went the extra mile to create a fun gender reveal party for everyone. As the mother-of-two explained in the YouTube clip, the pair gave the envelope containing their baby’s gender to her sister, Jana Duggar.
As the only person who knew the child’s gender, Jana created the event’s decorations using pink and blue powder. If there was more pink than blue, it represented a girl and vice versa. So how would they tell the difference? The couple used one of their favorite hobbies.
“We’re not doing anything crazy like extravagant,” Duggar said, “it’s easy; it’s fun. Austin and I love darts…we’ll pop all the balloons, and we’ll tally them every time we pop one. If there’s more blue ones than pink or if there’s more pink than blue, then that’s the gender.”
For the big day, Forsyth flaunted his architectural skills by constructing a large wooden dart board, which he set up in the couple’s yard. Jana filled black balloons with pink and blue decorations while ensuring the right gender color was more than the other.
As for the pregnant star, she set up the house for the party while enjoying a pickle. As the guests arrived, the 25-year-old asked her relatives what gender they believed the baby would be. She also tossed the question to her daughter, Evelyn, who expressed her desire for a baby sister.
Once the balloons were anchored to the dartboard, the fun game began with the lovebirds popping the balloons with darts. At the start of the game, pink seemed to be in the lead. But, the ending burst quite a few bubbles.
For the finale, Forsyth had the honor of popping the last balloon, which unveiled a shower of blue powder. As the couple gazed in shock at the revelation, their guests shot off handheld confetti cannon that unleashed more blue decorations on the parents.
Duggar and Forsyth embraced under the rain of blue paper, pulling their kids into the beautiful family moment. In the following scenes, their loved ones could be seen celebrating indoors while the spouses snuck off to the bedroom to record their reactions to the news.
“I am completely shocked,” the entertainer confessed. “I like 100 percent thought that it was a girl, convinced myself that it was a girl, Austin thought it was a girl, so I was like, ‘It’s definitely a girl.’ And I was like waiting for two of those balloons to be pink, but they weren’t.”
Despite her child not being a girl, Duggar assured fans that she was happy regardless of her child’s gender. Forsyth shared similar sentiments, noting that he was grateful and glad that Gideon would have a little brother.
Baby Number Three Miraculously Arrived After The Couple Lost An Unborn Child
Expanding a family is no easy task; just ask Duggar and Forsyth. The Blast reported that the reality TV stars embarked on another pregnancy journey following the devastating loss of their unborn baby three years ago.
A routine checkup showed that the child’s heart had stopped beating, a difficult pill for the loving parents to swallow. However, pushing forward blessed them with another baby.
Regarding her current pregnancy, Duggar announced the big news on the couple’s YouTube channel. The 25-year-old speculated that her child may arrive sometime in May 2023, presumably close to the spouses’ anniversary.
