Could Taylor Swift be 'dancing with her hands tied?'

The global attention surrounding Swift's upcoming stadium tour has inspired a conversation surrounding the many behind-the-scenes intricacies of the music business listeners rarely see.

The "Glitch" singer announced her first tour in five years earlier this month. Excitement for Swift's return to the stage was soon eclipsed by the increased difficulty in obtaining tickets once they went on sale Tuesday, November 15th.

Almost immediately after ticket sales began, Swift's fanbase of determined 'Swifties' began to report Ticketmaster error messages and experience confusion resulting from faulty Ticketmaster queue lines.

In the coming days, interest in Ticketmaster and its business practice began to increase. The outlet's response to the chaos revolved around "Unprecedented demand" for tickets per a Twitter announcement.

The 'unprecedented demand' for tickets would also result in the cancellation of Friday's "public on-sale." Ticketmaster attributed "insufficient remaining ticket inventory" resulting from those demands that the outlet was now also calling "extraordinarily high."

The cancellation announcement comes after multiple United States lawmakers began inquiring about matters behind the curtain at Ticketmaster; Senator Amy Klobuchar wrote a letter to Ticketmaster's parent company Live Nation's CEO Michael Rapino inquiring about more information behind the company's practices and for Rapino's perspective.

Klobuchar and Tennessee's Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti are only two of the many famous names who have spoken out about Ticketmaster and the various aspects pertaining to its role behind Swift's tour.

What about Swift, herself?

As the conversation continues, both Swift and her team, Taylor Nation, are notably silent.

Swifties have increased their demands for the songstress to address the ongoing plight around ticket acquisition.

Fans have discussed and pondered possible reasons for Swift's silence on Twitter and Tumblr, some attempting to reach out to her directly.

One Twitter user wrote an open letter to Swift, beginning her letter by letting Swift know she was writing as "a deeply upset and frustrated fan of 17 years."

The letter's author also detailed she had attended dates on every tour ranging from Swift's first tour to her most recent "Reputation" tour.

"I have never in all these years have ever encountered such a difficult and painful ticket-buying experience. You have thousands of dedicated fans on social media, many of whom have been around since 'debut' that are unable to get tickets because of Ticketmaster's failed technology, inability to prepare, and they're prioritizing scalpers," she writes.

"I never want to say anything to upset you or disappoint you but at the same time I am really sad and disappointed in how this was handled," the author continues. "I know you would not want to see us all sad and hurting over something we should be celebrating..."

A Tumblr user wrote, "the way ticketmaster is blaming taylor swift for what happened??? "just double tour dates to counter the demand" like no how about you shut up? i don't think they understand the physical and mental exertion it takes to perform it takes to perform almost every single day for MONTHS"

Taylor Nation, Swift's management team, has also been silent. Fans are also calling on Taylor Nation to acknowledge the issue on Twitter, many tweets revolving around the team's promotion of a "Anti-Hero" remix, only available for a limited time.
