Swifties officially win the title of the most enthusiastic fan after crashing the Ticketmaster site with countless requests for Taylor Swift Eras tour tickets. Unfortunately, since the site canceled its public sale, resale prices have been higher than ever, with some reaching up to $22k.
The company's sale premiered on November 15th and crashed shortly after, with over 3.5 million people booked for a pre-sale. The 2023 tour ticket sales also shattered the site's record with over 2 million sales that same day.
Following the crash, they released a statement explaining why it happened. Swift announced the tour earlier in the year and revealed that it would support all her albums. This comes after she postponed tour plans for her recent projects due to the pandemic.

Taylor Swift's Resale Tickets Are As High As A Staggering $22,000
While the prices are over the top, tickets to see the "Lover" singer perform in the Gillette Stadium front row rose to $22,500 per TMZ. The cheapest ones for Boston and Chicago are between $600 and $800, with floor seats for as much as $5000. With Ticketmaster crashing on the premiere date of ticket sale, millions of fans waited in line for a chance to secure a seat.
While some successfully did, others would have to pay a lot more to be able to attend one of the concerts. The ticket sale not only crashed the site but also broke its record, with millions of fans securing a ticket that same day.
The Ticket Sales For Taylor Swifts Tour Broke An All-Time Record
In response to the Eras Tour ticket traffic on the site, several media outlets referred to the high demand as "astronomical" and "unexpected." The ticket hulk also reported that 3.5 million fans registered for their pre-sale program. This caused the site to crash immediately after beginning on November 15th.
Despite the crash, Ticketmaster sold over 2 million tour tickets that day, setting a new record for the most tickets sold in one day on the site. "The Eras on sale made one thing clear: Taylor Swift is an unstoppable force and continues to set records," the company wrote in its statement.
While they were impressed with the massive sales, they had no choice but to cancel the general sale. The statement read, "We strive to make ticket buying as easy as possible for fans, but that hasn't been the case for many people trying to buy tickets for the Eras Tour."

In a Thursday announcement, Ticketmaster explained that they canceled the public sale because of "extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand."
In response to this, several members of the US Congress wondered why the site dominated ticket sales and called for an investigation. Tennessee attorney general Jonathan Skrmetti announced that he would begin an investigation into the ticketing site's possible violations of antitrust laws.
However, the ticket giant isn't the only site responsible for show access in the industry. But since the company joined ties with Live Nation in 2010, it took over a huge part of the ticket market. Other lawmakers like Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar also recently called for an investigation into the ticket sale dominance since the company suspended ticket sales for the Eras Tour.
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Is The Tour Of The Decade
The highly-anticipated tour is the sixth headlining tour by Swift. In the wake of the pandemic, the star postponed tour plans for her last three albums, "Lover" in 2019, "Folklore" in 2020, and "Evermore" that same year. With the release of "Midnight" in late October, she will take on the Eras Tour to support all her albums.
The upcoming tour will also mark her second stadium tour after the 2018 Reputation tour. It will premiere on March 17th with her Arizona concert and end on August 9th, 2023, in California. While she is yet to reveal International dates, the star described the tour as one that will take fans on a "journey through all of her musical eras."
