It hasn’t even been 24 hours since an open letter in support of Amber Heard was released and there is already a hashtag prepared to take the actress down.
Amber Heard Is Trending… Again
The actress has been going through a lot amidst her trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp, the accusations of the assault she had against him, and ultimately, losing the trial and being slammed online for lying.
The Aquaman actress’s drama inspired a group of professionals to create a website called amberopenletter.com to support her and let her know that the people on this site, accept her and believe her. The letter was intense and made no mistake about who they were defending.
“The vilification of Ms. Heard and ongoing online harassment of her and those who have voiced support for her have been unprecedented in both vitriol and scale,” claims the group in the letter.
“Much of this harassment was fueled by disinformation, misogyny, biphobia, and a monetized social media environment where a woman’s allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault were mocked for entertainment.”
The Letter Sparked Controversy Over Amber Heard
Of course, Heard was immediately mocked online with thousands of people claiming that they 100% don’t believe her and are mad that this is even being brought up again. The hashtag, #AmberHeardDoesNOTSpeakForMe is trending with followers of the trend straight up blasting the actress.
“AH doesn't represent women, she doesn't represent DV victims and she doesn't represent feminism, NEVER!!!!” a follower of the trend practically screamed from behind her computer screen.
The trend continued with similar comments, “This is my open letter to AH:” began the follower “You’re an abusive, lying, manipulative witch who chose to ride off the coattails of the MeToo movement & turned ACTUAL D/SA survivors into a joke by calling us DOORMATS in your 2016 deposition. #AmberHeardDoesNOTSpeakForMe nor for others survivors.”
Twitter Followers Wrote Their Own Letter
Just as quickly as the support letter went up, the anti-support letter was up as well. Twitter followers took it upon themselves to address the actress with their own harsh words. The letter is titled, “We Will Not Stand With You”.
It rips Heard to shreds. Amber, No victim of domestic violence acts in the manner in which you do. You are the abuser, not the abused. You sold us a role, a character- the survivor, and we bought it eagerly,” states the letter.
“We supported you, we wept for you, we rallied behind you, and you betrayed us all. We trusted in you. You used our pain, as you appropriated our stories, re-victimizing us. Then you weaponized our movement against the person you were abusing . All this for what?
Merely another move in your twisted, mind game to garner relevance, social currency. adulation and more wealth.”
The letter featured certain words and phrases bolded like “rage”, “trained”, “abuse has no gender” making it abundantly clear to her that this letter was NOT one supporting her endeavors.
Some followers retweeted the letter and commented, “This is another orchestrated attempt to change the narritive by abuse apologists Kat Tenbarge & Michele Dauber. No matter how hard they try, they cant change the irrefutable evidence that #AmberHeardIsALiar #AmberHeardlsAnAbuser #AmberHeardDoesNOTSpeakForMe #IStandWithJohnnyDepp.”
“Despite the bullshit, drama, and unnecessary noise that goes on on this app, I am here to support Johnny Depp and spread the truth. And the truth is Johnny Depp is a victim, and Amber Heard is an abuser,” insisted another follower.
A Logo Was Made Against Amber Heard
In addition to the letter, Twitter followers fought back with a whole ass logo. They made a red and black circled logo that reads dead in the center; “130+ Abuse Apologist DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME”. It’s being slung around Twitter just as much as the anti-support letter and the harsh comments.
“Nothing like showing a victim some support! I changed my profile pic, can you? Stop the narrative BS with a sea of roaring red #AmberHeardDoesNOTSpeakForMe #IStandWithJohnnyDepp #johnnydepp,” shared a follower who admits to changing his profile picture to the logo.
