One thing is constant in Drake’s life, his love for the 6ix and the Raptors basketball team that represents it.
Drake Brings Back A Classic Raptors Style
The rapper's company, Octobers Very Own better known as OVO is posting about their latest collab on Instagram; classic Toronto Raptor clothing pieces. The rapper began teasing the collection a few days ago writing,
“OVO® FW2022 —Draft Day Collection To celebrate the 1995 Inaugural Season of the Toronto Raptors, October’s Very Own and Mitchell & Ness have partnered to create a limited edition capsule collection. 11.16.2022 ©2022 — OCTOBER’S VERY OWN”
He shared a couple of close-up shots of the classic purple jersey last worn in the 2008 season and several others by the players.
Drake Highlighted A Few Classic Players
The rapper also went above and beyond to highlight some of the older players in the replicated jerseys. Specifically, Drake recruited David Stoudamire to don the jersey and pose with the new capsule collection.
The video featured highlights in the athlete’s career including a snippet of his draft day interview. Fans of the team remember that Stoudamire’s nickname was “Might Mouse” because of his small stature but his ability to dominate on the court.
In the post, OVO reminded fans that he was a GOAT in his day, “Toronto Raptors 1st selection
of the 1995 NBA draft,” they write making sure the young today know what’s up!
In a final post, the OVO Instagram page shared a few pictures of the retired basketball player in the new capsule collection gear titled “Draft Day Collection”.
Drake Promoted The Collection On IG Story
The rapper used his own platform and shared the video of Stoudamire’s career and the former player trying on the items and loving them. the collection also features two hat styles in addition to the jersey and the jacket.
Naturally, fans are excited and ready to throw their money at the clothes. “Take my money,” said one fan, straight up. “Please dont sell out the jacket,” begged one fan who noted that payday is around the corner for them.
Drake Fans Slam The City
The response has been positive regarding the clothing collaboration, but fans and resident Torontonians wasted no time calling out the city of Toronto for their shotty attempt at a city jersey for the current team.
“These should’ve been the Raptors City Jerseys. Missed opportunity,” insisted a follower.
“OVO smart...designing a line that everyone's been begging for: OG/Retro City Jersey...but (probably) charging 3x the price than a regular city jersey,” pointed out another.
“Why couldn’t that be the city jersey smh,” asked a follower again.
These fans have no chill when it comes to speaking their mind. “Somebody tell the clowns that designed this year's City Jerseys this is where it's at,” wrote a fan of the new design.
However, they are clearly excited about the collaboration and counting down the days until they can spend their hard-earned dollars on this intense collaboration.
Drake & OVO Recruited Raptors Superfan To Promote
The OVO team knows how to market their goods, they choose to enlist the help of a self-proclaimed superfan and local celebrity to promote the gear. The local car dealer Nav Bhatia, now famous for his love of the team, sports a championship ring of his own with the new jacket and jersey.
The fans are loving it. “Superfan Nav, a whole model,” they wrote hyping him up.
