The star of the popular YouTube channel “Jay Leno’s Garage” has previously revealed he owns approximately 181 cars and 160 motorcycles in his Burbank home.
Unfortunately, the 72-year-old was hospitalized on Sunday, November 13, after a fire broke out in his Los Angeles home’s garage — which is where he keeps his cars. The fire erupted after one of Leno’s cars suddenly burst into flames — without any warning.
Jay Leno Is In “Stable Condition” After Car Fire Erupts In Garage
TMZ reported that according to sources close to the former “Tonight Show” host, the flames burned the left side of his face.
Luckily, the 72-year-old is in stable condition at Grossman Burn Center after the gasoline fire, releasing the following statement to Variety, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
Jay Leno Cancels Upcoming Conference
News Jay Leno’s health was first reported by People, who announced that the comedian would not take part in his upcoming Las Vegas financial conference. According to their report, the 72-year-old had to cancel his appearance “due to a serious medical emergency.”
“His family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling,” the email stated. “All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.”
Leno Suffers From High Cholesterol
Over the last few years, the 72-year-old has been outspoken about his health, including living with high choleterol so when the news first broke about Leno canceling his upcoming appearance due to a “serious medical emergency,” many fans were nervous Leno was having a health issue related to his high cholesterol. Luckily, that is not the case and he is iin stable condition at the burn center due to suffering the burns from the car fire in his garage.
In regards to his high cholesterol, Leno posted a video posted in 2019, encouraging his fans and followers to get routine cholesterol checkups.
“There’s a lot of people walking around like that, they’re just time bombs. You’ve got all this cholesterol, you don’t realize it until it actually hits, you know?” Leno said at the time. “It’s like in a car, if even one piece of dirt gets in the eye of the needle of the jet, and boom and no more gas comes through. And that’s what happens with your heart.”
