King Charles III Marks First Birthday As British Monarch With New Exciting Role!

King Charles III celebrated turning 74 in style!

Not only were there ceremonial gun salutes reverberating across the British capital and a new picture, but the longest-serving heir apparent had a new role in marking his first birthday as monarch. Charles assumed royal duties following the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September.

The new birthday picture, which was dropped on the official Royal Family Twitter page, showed Charles resting his back on an oak tree in the park. As it turned out, the photo also indicated his appointment as Ranger as the caption began:

"The King has officially become Park Ranger of Windsor Great Park, 70 years after his father, The Duke of Edinburgh, was appointed to the post. The Ranger offers guidance to the Deputy Ranger and his team in the day-to-day stewardship of one of the country’s oldest estates."

The tweet added that the Ranger role began as far back as 1559 when "Sir Henry Neville was appointed during Queen Elizabeth I's reign." Since then, the post has been conferred on "the Sovereign or family members, including The King's father and grandfather."

The last statement in the thread noted that Charles' father was the "longest serving Ranger of Windsor Great Park – holding the role from 1952 until his passing in 2021." During his time, Prince Phillip oversaw several developments, including the "reintroduction of Red Deer and the development of The Savill Garden Visitor Centre."

An excited Royal fan replied, "What a poignant photo of yourself, Your Majesty. This solidifies your commitment to the environment. Congratulations, and your parents would be proud of you. You are definitely carving out your own reign as King. Happy Birthday Your Majesty."

A second fan tweeted, "A very fitting appointment! Hope you're having a wonderful birthday Your Majesty," and a third gushed, "Wow such a beautiful picture to announce great news on The King's birthday!! I love it so much."

Charles had received an opposite reaction when he and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles, were pelted by eggs while visiting York, England. The Blast revealed that the situation was quickly subdued with the aid of security guards who blocked the couple.

As it turned out, the attacker was identified as Extinction Rebellion activist Patrick Thelwell, who was heard yelling, "This country was built on the blood of slaves!" Thelwell was detained by authorities and escorted out of Micklegate Bar to the sound of the crowd booing him and chanting, "God Save The King."

Fortunately, neither Camilla nor Charles were hit by the four eggs targeted at them. Not like the new King of England and his wife were bothered by the attack. While Charles had ignored the drama, Camilla continued to greet fans.

The British monarchy is ready to move ahead with its coronation following the death of Queen Elizabeth, per The Blast. The ceremony for Charles is slated to happen next year. According to an announcement from Buckingham Palace, the coronation date is May 6, 2023. The highly-anticipated and prestigious occasion would take place at Westminster Abbey, London. 

Sticking with its tradition, the Archbishop of Canterbury will perform the coronation. However, the event would not be as lavish as the ones before it due to the high cost of living in the United Kingdom. The Royal Family is also considering the financial crisis plunging the nation into a recession. Charles' big day is estimated to cost less than his mother's.

Queen Elizabeth's coronation ceremony, which lasted three hours cost taxpayers £1.57 million — a sum that translates to about $50 million in today's economy. Nevertheless, the royalty will shine through in all its luxury, as a Palace spokesperson stated:

"The coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look toward the future while being rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry."

As usual, several dignitaries and world leaders will grace the ceremony where the former Prince of Wales will be crowned with Saint Edward's crown after taking the oath. Reports claim that the royal crown comprises 22-carat gold, diamonds, topazes, rubies, amethysts, sapphires, garnets, and tourmalines.
