Cardi B is opening up about the sweet bond she shared with her loved one and fellow rapper Takeoff. For the first time since the youngest Migos member was tragically murdered, his cousin's wife broke her silence.
The beloved 28-year-old and shot and killed on November 1 outside a Houston, Texas, bowling alley, leaving his fans, especially his family, in utter despair.
Cardi B Breaks Silence About Takeoff's Passing
On Friday, shortly after Takeoff’s emotional memorial service, which saw over 20,000 fans in attendance, his family, and several A-listers in the industry, Cardi shared her first tribute to her beloved in-law.
"Takeoff, your untimely passing has brought a great deal of pain and sorrow to so many lives. The impact you had in this world was so considerable, and we have struggled to grasp this tragedy," she began the tear-jerking tribute.
Cardi stated that she was "heartbroken" but remained "grateful" for the memories and precious moments they had together while he was still alive. "This has truly been a nightmare, and the pain is incomparable," she confessed.
The "WAP" rapper then shifted the attention to her husband Offset and his cousin Quavo, who was Takeoff’s uncle and by his side at the time of his death, and how they were dealing with the immeasurable loss of his demise. In her words:
"The emptiness your brothers are feeling is unbearable and I pray that you give Offset, Quavo, and your friends and family the strength to keep going as they are trying to cope with this loss."
She shared that she believes "angels send signs and beautiful dreams to loved ones to assure them that they’re watching them and they’re okay and happy," before urging the late Migos member to "send your mom some of those 🙏🏽."
The "Yellow Bodak" artist proved that she was more than a family member to the deceased rapper, but an OG Migos fan who adored their talent as a trio. She wrote, "As a Migos fan, it hurts me to look at pictures and videos of y’all together, and hearing y’all songs that changed the music industry and moved the culture and had the clubs lit 🔥."
The mother-of-two admitted the world and the rap industry would never be the same without Takeoff. However, she knows "your bros and y’all fans will make sure the world never forgets the impact you made." Concluding her touching tribute, Cardi made a heartwarming promise to Takeoff.
"I will remember your remarkable talent and your dope ass personality," she vowed. Cardi then added, "I pray that you are at peace and in paradise because you deserve every bit of it. I know God opened the heavenly gates for you with a warm embrace. Rest in power TakeOff 🚀💔I will also love you 4L & after."
Cardi Was Trolled For 'Lacklustre Tribute'
This isn't the first time the 30-year-old has addressed her loved one's tragic passing, but her first attempt wasn't well appreciated by annoyed critics. As The Blast reported, days after Takeoff's death was confirmed, Cardi took to Twitter to retweet a Complex video about Takeoff and his bond with his family.
The clip was captioned "family forever," a mantra Cardi clearly believed and retweeted. At the time, non of the late "Open It Up" rapper's loved ones, especially Quavo and Offset, had addressed his passing. However, some fans were not satisfied with the way she spoke up.
Many slammed her for trying to save face, given that her husband and the rest of his group weren't on good terms before Takeoff passed. One disappointed comment read, "And I know she just liked that video because she’s scared and guilty after saying Quavo and Takeoff to “stand on it” last week. If you can enter here and enjoy a video, why not make a correct tribute?"
The 'I Like It' Rapper Mourned During Takeoff's Memorial
Earlier in the day before Cardi's tribute, she, Quavo, and Offset were seen for the first time since the 28-year-old's death.

The bereaved cousins who were beefing put up a united front and were seen in an embrace before getting into a car heading to the celebration of life, which was held at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
The "Up" rapper was there to support her man standing right behind the brothers in a simple black dress with heels. Takeoff was killed by a stray bullet after an argument erupted at a bowling alley. May his soul rest in peace.
