We don’t know who needs to hear this today, but Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato ARE STILL NOT FRIENDS. This question being brought up is so laughable at this point, we wonder if it’s an inside joke amongst magazine writers. But to clear things up from the start: they don’t hate each other!
A source close to one of the leading ladies declared earlier this week that “Demi has no beef with Selena.”
“There is no animosity between them,” they said, adding that “they’re just not friends at this point.”
Supposedly, the whole reason this had to be addressed again was in response to last month’s #DemiLovatoIsOverParty. Why was Lovato being canceled this time? Because Selenators were just positive they uncovered her Finsta (fake Instagram) account.
It was thought that user @TraumaQueen4Eva (later renamed @dolphins4ever02) was responsible for a series of savage posts that shading Selena (among other things). Yes, imposters are everywhere online – but the account’s alleged authenticity was soldified to Gomez goons when they say it had famous followers like Nikita Dragun, Lauren Jauregui, and Sam Smith.
Lovato told Jameela Jamil she wasn’t worried about during an aftermath-appearance on the the ‘I Weigh’ podcast.
“I’ve been canceled so many times, I can’t even count,” she said. “The hashtag #DemiIsOverParty, that whole thing – it just doesn’t even affect me anymore.”
“There are some people, if you have used up your second and third chances with a certain topic, you’re canceled and you should stay canceled.”
“Where is the forgiveness culture?” she asked.
And that’s as direct as Lovato got on the matter, which makes the following source information even messier than it already was.
The aforementioned insider told UsWeekly that “Demi is telling people the Finsta account wasn’t hers, that it’s a fake profile that she doesn’t use and the photos that were making fun of Selena were edited and photoshopped.”
Can anyone translate?
But, it’s worth noting the constant comparisons were once not completely unwarranted: Both are 27 (with Gomez being less than a month older than Lovato); they both grew up in the Dallas area and got their start co-starring together on ‘Barney & Friends.’ They also did their musical training at the same artist development center before becoming same-era Disney stars.
But that was decade(s) ago!!!

The real origin of this year’s drama actually began sweetly, when Instagram practically imploded on itself during GRAMMY night.
Lovato’s January performance was her first time on stage since her near-fatal overdose in July 2018. Gomez, watching from home, wrote a little note underneath a picture of her TV displaying a beaming Lovato.
“I wish there were words to describe how beautiful, inspirational and DESERVED this moment was. Demi I’m so happy for you. Thank you for your courage and bravery,” Gomez said.
Fast forward to April 14th – Lovato, slaying the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, had to take on the topic once again. She told the mag that, “when you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them.”
“But I’m not friends with her. I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
The previous source said that “Selena has always tried to be nice to Demi, but over the last couple of years especially, the both of them have been through personal struggles.”
“In the past, Demi felt like Selena wasn’t always there for her and that the friendship wasn’t reciprocated.”
HOWEVER… The tennis match continues! A second insider says “they haven’t been close friends since they were teenagers”
“They haven’t really been there for each other during many of their public struggles [as a result]. They’ve always been pleasant when they’ve seen each other but haven’t been close for many, many years.”
So, there it is, out there again – there is no friendship, just like there is no beef. So stop trying to make Demi & Selena happen!
