Jenna Johnson Praises Husband Val Chmerkovskiy For Making Her Feel 'Beautiful' Amid Pregnancy

"DWTS" couple Jenna Johnson & Val Chmerkovskiy could not make pregnancy look any more adorable as they prepare to welcome their first child in 2023.

The duo, who have been married for about three years, are naturally over the moon about being parents, and Johnson seems to have all the support she needs from her devoted sweetheart. 

The "SYTYCD" star recently got candid about how supportive Chmerkovskiy has been through her pregnancy and how he makes her feel "super empowered." She said he loves every phase of the journey and "constantly" thanks her for carrying their baby.

Johnson appeared not to be so surprised about her partner's support as they had planned to expand their family for a long time. "We tried for a while to get pregnant," she shared. "And this is something we've wanted for a very long time in our relationship. So I knew that [Val] would be awesome and so excited."

Even so, experiencing it has been on "a different level" with Chmerkovskiy as he has helped her view herself as beautiful despite her struggles with her body image amid her pregnancy. She explained:

"I've always been pretty toned, pretty in shape, because of dance. And so, while my body has been constantly changing, it's been a lot and confusing at times. But he has made me feel so special and so beautiful."

While waiting to welcome their unborn child, the ballroom dancer has learned a "lot of things," including "respecting and appreciating" her body that has always been there for her and is holding "a precious little angel." She also learned to slow down and switch her mindset to 'I'm not being lazy, but I'm serving a purpose right now.'

Back in July, Johnson opened up about the physical changes she has experienced amid pregnancy – changes that made her find ways to be "super grateful and find moments of gratitude."

This also made her start a "little gratitude journal" where she pens down everything that happens to her body daily, including what she likes and dislikes. In writing down the experience, the April-born dancer focuses on how magical the experience is and, at the same time, helps herself by trying to keep her mind in that mindset.

As for her husband, she described him as "so funny" in the whole experience and further revealed that he is obsessed with her body's growth and has been so "sweet and positive," making her feel "so beautiful."

Midway through Johnson's pregnancy, she and Chmerkovskiy announced their baby's gender on Instagram using a series of lovely snaps and captions indicating they were expecting a boy.

The Blast noted that the Ukrainian-American choreographer's post, captioned with a simple blue emoji, featured two pictures from the intimate gender reveal they held for their unborn son.

The first picture showed him and his wife holding gold-hued canisters in the corner of a sunlit room, while the next one displayed them shooting blue confetti cannons from the container. 

Johnson's Instagram update gave a more detailed view of the occasion and began with a black-and-white picture. As for her caption, she conveyed her and her husband's excitement for the fantastic news by gushing:

"IT'S A….. BOY!!!!!!! Today we are officially halfway there to meeting our son. Saying those words still makes me emotional!! SO EXCITED to be a boy mom." 

The Halloween season came with sad news for Johnson's husband as he revealed that he would miss the Halloween "DWTS" episode due to his recent COVID diagnosis.

The Blast reported that he updated his fans on Instagram about the news, using a video where he expressed displeasure, saying, "It sucks majorly, for lack of a better more profound word."

However, the upside of the incident was that his dance partner tested negative, meaning he could be replaced with other pro dancers to partake in the contest. This led him to urge fans to vote so they could make it back in the following week's episode, possibly with him back on his feet.

The 14-time U.S. National Latin Dance champion once again expressed his disappointment in the sad news, calling it a "huge bummer" as he felt like he had let some people down.
