'I Was A Little Nervous'
During her appearance on the red carpet of the 11th annual LACMA Art + Film Gala, Sweeney shared details about her on-set experience with co-star Johnson on Sony's upcoming Marvel film "Madame Web."
The "Fifty Shades Of Grey" franchise star was the first cast in the superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, before Sweeney was signed on to the project.
While Sweeney admitted that she loved working with Johnson, she confessed that meeting Johnson on set came with a nervous feeling at the time.
"I was a little nervous," Sweeney told a reporter from Variety at the event, which was held over the weekend.
The "Euphoria" star also revealed that she'd been a fan of Johnson for several years, right from when the actress starred in the psychological-sexual film series. "I have to say — I snuck '50 Shades of Grey' in high school. My parents didn't let me watch it, and I watched it. So I'm a huge fan of hers. She's so hot."
Sydney Sweeney In 'Madame Web'
First introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man comics, Madame Web was portrayed as a blind, clairvoyant, and precognitive individual who collaborates with Spiderman to uncover the location of a kidnapped victim.
It's unclear whether the upcoming film will draw inspiration from the comics or follow a unique narrative. It is directed by S. J. Clarkson from a screenplay written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.
Filming began in mid-July 2022, starring Johnson as the lead actress, while Sweeney's role has yet to be disclosed by the showrunners. Joining the duo for the project are "Selah and the Spades" star Celeste O'Connor, "Holidate" actress Emma Roberts and actor cum comedian Adam Scott.
Other cast members include Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet, whose roles are yet to be revealed. The film's plot has been kept under wraps while its debut date has been scheduled for early next year.
Sydney Sweeney's Upcoming Movie Features
Sweeney was recently cast in another movie, "Barbarella," which would also be produced by "Madame Web" showrunners Sony. The upcoming film is a remake of the mid-nineties science fiction film that stars Jane Fonda as the titular character, who portrays a space traveler and representative of the Earth's leader sent to find an evil genius who created a weapon that puts humanity on the brink of extinction.
The film is still in preproduction, with no director, producer, or writer presently signed on to it.
She would also play a part in another Sony production, dubbed "Immaculate." Directed by Michael Mohan, the psychological horror thriller will reunite the actress with the filmmaker following their previous collaboration in "The Voyeurs." Sweeney will executive produce "Barbarella" and star as a producer in "Immaculate.".
Sydney Sweeney Feels Like Her 'Whole Life Is A Secret'
Besides her acclaimed role as Cassie Howard in HBO's "Euphoria," most of Sweeney's upcoming features have not revealed vital information about her roles.
In her interview with Variety, Sweeney opened up about how it felt to live with so many hidden details. "I feel like my whole life is a secret," Sweeney said. "It's really hard."
She also shared that production for the third installment of "Euphoria" will begin soon, after which she will team up with the cast for "Barbarella."
Sweeney is also known for her role in the comedy-drama anthology "The White Lotus," which, alongside starring in "Euphoria," earned her Emmy nominations.
