Tina Turner is one of the strongest women fans have ever had the privilege of knowing about. The American singer and actress and singer had to go through physical and emotional abuse from her ex-husband and singing partner. Not only that, this act continued throughout their marriage.

Speaking to The New York Times recently, Tina mentioned that she had no idea if she could ever bring herself to forgive everything Ike Turner ever did to her, in the course of their marriage.

The 80-year-old singer, was living in constant hurt and pain inflicted on her by her husband. However, she mentioned to NYT that since he is dead, she is not worried about him.

Ike was found dead at age 76, after he overdosed on cocaine.

Speaking about her experience, Tina mentioned that being a strong person was not in the books for her, however, she always wondered if something would come out of everything she had to go through. She also made a shocking revelation about the aftermath of her experience.

Tina added that the only reason why she has never extensively spoken about what she really went through with Ike, was because she felt very ashamed of herself.

“I think I’m ashamed. I feel I told enough.” She said during the interview.

Ike and Tina got married in 1962 and after years of maltreatment, she decided to flee with only 30 cents in her purse. After a while, Tina served Ike divorce papers and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce.

Tina Turner (a name coined by her late ex-husband) was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, U.S on November 26, 1939. She is a successful singer and actress who was born and bred in the U.S, but is now a Swiss citizen.

Tina’s profound career kicked off in 1958 when she joined Ike Turner to make music. Her first amazing single as Tina Turner was titled “A Fool In Love.”

Ike and Tina were friends for a very long time and she would al aye refer him as a brother from another mother.

However, as time went on, the duo grew closer and soon began an affair. After the birth of their son, Ronnie, in 1960, the couple moved all the way to Los Angeles where they decided to get married.

According to Tina, the abuse started when she opened up to Ike that she did not want to change her name. In his old age, Ike was diagnosed with bipolar-disorder, but at that time, the damage had already been done.

Years after her divorce from Ike, Tina met and married Erwin Bach, a German music executive in 1986.
