Kate Beckinsale is under fire – seemingly for an Instagram post that came with the best possible intentions. The 46-year-old actress' Sunday night update came dedicated to giving a little back amid the COVID-19 pandemic – the "Underworld" actress was shouting out premium water brand VOSS as she announced that the company would be providing "care packages" of its product to those in need.

While Kate straight-up said: "Tell them I sent you" as she urged anyone wanting VOSS water to head to its website, the response proved somewhat negative.

Kate's post opened with a close-up photo of her holding up a bottle of VOSS water near its white case. The Brit was rocking a blue, white, and red knit sweater, with anyone swiping to the right seeing the brunette seated on wooden flooring with her legs in a V shape. Tight black jeans and the high-heeled boots that are a standard for Beckinsale were seen, alongside the actress holding a VOSS bottle in each hand – a case from the bottled water company sat in front of her.

A caption read:

"My friends at VOSS will be providing care packages consisting of bottles of VOSS water (like this one) to those of you in need at this time.Head over to @vossworld to see how you can receive one if you are in need. Tell them I sent you.Let's all do our part and keep each other safe and healthy.?We’ll get through this together. PS Clive is having tap."

Clive is Kate's cat. While 112,000+ likes left in 12 hours suggested the thumbs-up, the comments section proved a different story.

Kate's 4.1 million followers appeared to have thoughts.

"Love you and would love to see you leverage your platform to promote something beside single-use plastic," a popular comment read.

Then again, a user asked: "Isn't VOSS glass?" with Kate replying: "Yes it is."

"We don’t need VOSS. We have faucets," another said.

Beckinsale fired right back: "Don't call them then," she wrote.

Replies seeing users deem VOSS water unnecessary continued: "Fair enough tou have to make money somehow but shilling bottled water? Needless plastic waste. Nothing wrong with council juice oot the tap," one fan wrote.

"Not to be annoying (and good on them for being supportive) but isn’t VOSS just overpriced, bottled tap water?" saw the issue raised once again.

Conversely, others were loving it: "Yo ????A case of water on the floor never look so good" was one comment, with another reading: "This was nice of you ❤️?."

Kate has kept Instagram updated as she quarantines. A double sports bra yoga workout in Beckinsale's backyard made headlines back in March, although Kate has since fronted media outlets for being spotted holding hands with "toyboy" singer Goody Grace – while Kate will turn 47 in July 2020, her reported Canadian beau is just 22 years old.
