It is interesting how a major life event like a divorce can change a person and does supermodel Emily Ratajkowski not know plenty about that?
Since she officially filed for divorce from her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard two months ago, the model has quickly embraced her new life as a single mom to their son, Sylvester Apollo. The 31-year-old talked about her life since the split when she sat down with the "Today" show's Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb on Wednesday.
Emily Ratajkowski Now Only Has Eyes For Her Son After Life As A Serial Monogamist
Although she did not intend it to, Ratajkowski's split from Bear-McClard was highly publicized due to the rumors that he had been unfaithful to her on multiple occasions. The events that unraveled after that event birthed a turning point for the mother-of-one who discussed her monogamist lifestyle with the "Today" hosts.
Kotb had gotten the conversation going by asking how Ratajkowski felt about this being the first time she would be single in her life. In response, the English-born American star gushed:
"It's crazy. It's so nice. Honestly, I don't owe anything to anybody — other than my son. That's the only man."
Next, Bush Hager pointed out that she had also been a "serial monogamist" and had wondered why she could not be alone during her college years. Since Ratajkowski could not speak for the host, she addressed her own issues, explaining:
"I think it was a way for me to protect myself. I was entering a really crazy industry and working in a really crazy industry, where, now, I think we can accept there are a lot of predatory, scary men. I think it was a way for me to feel safe. And also I just wanted to be loved, honestly, and have that validation. And that's not bad!"
"But it's really nice to be... I'm 31, and I have a little one and I have this career, and I'm just, kind of like, doing my own thing," she added. Kotb then recalled when actress Tracee Ellis Ross appeared on the show and said, "I spent my life waiting to be chosen."
That statement made the broadcast journalist realize that she was "the chooser," — a sentiment that she believed Ratajkowski was now accepting. Responding, the "iCarly" actress noted:
"That pick me girl phase. It's like a TikTok thing where people are like the pick-me girl. You wanna be chosen. You wanna be picked, and I was a pick me girl."
When Bush Hager asked what she was now, the "My Body" author replied, "I don't know. [But] I've been joking that I'm in my B era. I like that word because I feel like I'm reappropriating it. It has negative connotations [but] for me; it's a good thing. I don't put up with bullsh*t."
She clearly means that last statement as she recently locked lips with an unidentified man, ending the rumors that she was dating Brad Pitt. The incident occurred when the "Gone Girl" screen goddess went on a date night in New York.
The alleged lovebirds had enjoyed some alfresco dining and cocktails before things heated up between them. Ratajkowski and her mystery man — who appeared older thanks to his noticeable gray hairs — gave onlookers quite the show before hopping on her companion's motorcycle and riding into the night.
The Paris Fashion Week Runway Model Hints At Liking Women Too
Last month, The Blast reported that Ratajkowski used a (TikTok trend to update fans on her sexuality. The model uploaded the split-screen video that Shay Mitchell used to come out.
Upon hearing the question, "if you identify as bisexual, do you own a green velvet couch?" the "Blurred Lines" video vixen turned the camera around to show off the green velvet couch in her living room.
Ratajkowski then returned the camera to her face and the oversized white and red sweatshirt she was wearing. The news was met with shock and excitement from her 1.9 million followers, with many expressing themselves in the comment section.
One person affirmed, "ah yes, the coming out couch." Another fan said, "it keeps getting better," and a third claimed that they knew that brown-haired queen was "too cool to be straight." The clip also garnered over 200k likes from well-meaning supporters.
