Lori Vallow Investigated for Death of Husband's Former Wife

Idaho mother Lori Vallow has been under investigation for the disappearance of her two children, but authorities are now investigating her for the possible murder of her husband's former wife.

Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, are both under investigation after suspicions arose regarding the death of Tammy Daybell, 49.

Tammy was found deceased in her own home last October, and authorities intitially ruled the death as a result of natural causes. Now, investigators believe the death may have been suspicious. In December 2019, investigators had her remains exhumed so they could perform an autopsy.

Chad and Vallow married just a few weeks after Tammy died, and neither is facing official murder charges at this time. The state's Attorney General is examining the case to determine how to move forward.

Currently, Vallow is in an Idaho jail where she remains under investigation for the disappearance of her children, 7-year-old Joshua, and 17-year-old Tylee.

Joshua and Tylee were last seen in September, and police tried to conduct a welfare check in Rexburg, Idaho in November. Few signs of the children's whereabouts have emerged since.

In December, Idaho police officers announced that Vallow and her husband were not cooperating with demands to produce the children. In December, the couple had left the state. They refused to speak about the whereabouts of the children, though investigators believe they do know what happened.

In February, Vallow and Chad were found and arrested in Hawaii. They were extradited to Idaho and face charges related to desertion of nonsupport of dependent children. Vallow remains in jail with a $1 million bond.

Vallow has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and she is awaiting trial. Vallow has asked that her bail be reduced. Bond was already reduced from $5 million, but her new defense team is asking for a reduction to $10,000.

The last place people know Tylee to have been is Yellowstone National Park on September 8, 2019. Joshua was seen several weeks later. Family members have been questioned about the whereabouts of the children, but no evidence as to their current status is available.

Chad has not been charged with a crime related to the children's disappearance. He is a self-published author who is connected to doomsday theories. He claimed that his late wife died in her sleep.

Tammy's death is not the only one related to this case. Vallow's former husband, Charles Vallow, was shot and killed by her brother, Alex Cox. Cox claimed he shot Charles in self-defense in Phoenix last July. Cox then died of unknown causes months later. A drive-by-shooting in Gilbert, Arizona may also be related to the case.
