"Love Is Blind" stars Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson tied the knot at the end of season 2 but ended up walking away from their marriage a year later.
Although the divorce seemed amicable at first, it looks like things have quickly begun to sour. After Nick spoke to various media outlets about the divorce, Danielle accused her ex of trying to "control the narrative" surrounding their break-up in a volatile Instagram post that fans have only described as "confusing."
'Love Is Blind' Danielle Ruhl Claims Ex-Husband Nick Thompson Is Making 'False Statements' About Their Divorce
In a sharply worded Instagram post that said a lot and a little at the same time, Danielle Ruhl alleged that Nick Thompson and his team were trying to "silence" her, alleging that her divorce filing cost him the opportunity to appear on another reality show.
In the caption, Danielle encouraged her followers to "Please read.. bc I will no longer be controlled. I hope I don’t have to into detail. I would rather give half of what I have for freedom."
"What he has said in the public (outside of social media) but media outlets. The worst is happening behind the scenes.," she continued. "It’s sad again, I told him I’d support him going on the new show."
"Just because he isn’t saying things on social media doesn’t mean that there are not things behind the scenes are worse," she added. "I’m proactively saying this bc I know what he has in store with media, etc.. and bc he is about to go to these lows I’m being practice [sic]."
Danielle Says Nick's Team Warned Her Things Could Get 'Messy'
In a lengthy Instagram post, Danielle wrote, “I need to say this because Nick is taking extreme measures to take me down, silence me, and control the narrative because he had intended to go on another reality show and blames me for potentially being unable to.”
“I have been warned by his team that this could get messy and certain things of mine will be at stake or taken if I even block him on social media,” she alleged.
“He is proactively going to outlets to make false statements,” she alleged, possibly referring to his previous interview with PEOPLE.
“But on top of that, there have been tactics that Nick is taking to control the narrative, outside of just money, and emailed me blaming me for potentially ruining his chances of going on another show,” she alleged. “I didn’t know he was applying and contacted people to ensure it didn’t ruin his chances.”
Danielle continued to say that Nick “is proactively trying to get media attention because he blames me for the divorce even though I filed because I knew it was in my best interest. He said he was hoping the entire time he was hoping he’d get a director deal.”
It’s unclear what director deal she is talking about, but Nick did launch his own podcast almost immediately after their divorce filing was made public.
“He can continue to try and silence me... or continue to punish me for doing what was in my best interest,” Danielle continued. “But I hope people realize that he was enjoying the negative commentary and is trying to continue to make it the story line that makes him seem like a ‘savior.”
Danielle has previously been vocal about the “bad edit” she received on the show, which focused primarily on her struggles with mental health.
Danielle concluded her post by saying, “And it is going to higher efforts than divorce,” although it’s unclear what she is referring to. “When this comes to fruition, I will say more,” she added. “[I] hoped it never got to this point. But if anyone had the full context, they would understand.”
Many users were confused by her cryptic post. “This post says a lot and nothing at the same time...Hopefully, you're able to do a video or podcast to explain more in-depth cause I'm confused. You deserve to speak your truth,” one follower commented.
When another fan told her that she should be taking screenshots, Danielle assured her that she was.
UPDATE: As of Wednesday morning, Danielle's post had been removed about five hours after posting.
