Chloë Grace Moretz Is DONE Being A Recluse, Talks About Entering New Era

"Kick-Ass" actress Chloë Grace Moretz disclosed that she would be much more strict with her future movie projects. The actress starred in the "Kick-Ass" franchise and other popular films like "Carrie" and the 2021 "Tom and Jerry."

Moretz caught the eye of the public in the worst way a few years ago. A photo of the actress at the time was placed beside a cartoon character, seemingly pointing out their similarities. She revealed that the meme made her cut off from society for a while and developed body image problems.

The former child star recently talked about her future movie roles and disclosed that although she had received several scripts during the year, none had resonated with her.

Moretz just got candid about her selection process for future movie roles. The actress revealed that she intended to be careful in the future when picking a project, mainly due to her recent struggles. Moretz previously disclosed that she suffered from body dysmorphia and withdrew from society earlier this year.

During her interview with NME, the actress described her new head space as her "f**k it era." "When you're a child actor, it's really about making hay while the sun shines, working as much as you can," she said.

According to Moretz, she wanted to "peel back" on her movie projects as an adult. She continued, "I'd rather make zero movies in one year if it means I didn't connect to anything. That's literally what I did this year — 2016 was kind of a trial run to figuring that out."

During the interview, the actress revealed over the course of the year, she had received and read "a ton of scripts and had a ton of meetings this year," but none clicked with her. Moretz said that this period was the first time in her career that she decided not to work.

"And this is the first time, outside of the pandemic years when I actually just effectively chose not to work," the "Carrie" actress said. "That was really scary and brought up a lot of insecurities in my body."

Moretz added, "It's important for me to sit back and trust how I've been planting the seeds, and now I'm finally able to reap what I've sown. And I need to just trust myself. I've been calling it my 'f*ck it' era!"

Moretz previously revealed that she became a "recluse" and suffered from body image issues after a viral meme of her circulated in 2016. The photo of the actress showed her wearing a black shirt, shorts, and a pair of heels while carrying two pizza boxes.

While the picture seemed harmless enough, social media users compared the actress to a "Family Guy" character known as "Legs Go All the Way Up" Griffin. The image of Moretz and the cartoon character were mockingly placed side by side to the amusement of everyone but the actress.

She revealed that she took some time off to reevaluate her career and even rejected movie projects for a while. The actress talked about the meme years later and said that when she brought it up with someone, they shut her down and claimed it was funny.

During a September interview with Hunger Magazine, Moretz talked about how the meme affected how she saw her body and her relationship with others. She said, "I just remember sitting there and thinking, 'My body is being used as a joke, and it's something that I can't change about who I am, and it is being posted all over Instagram.'"

The "Tom And Jerry" star revealed that during that period, she only went out if it involved work and moved away from the limelight. "[I] basically became a recluse," Moretz said. "To this day, when I see that meme, it's something very hard for me to overcome."

Having more time to herself has helped the Georgia native and allowed her to be herself while avoiding the barrage of paparazzi.
