Hilary Duff does not look like this anymore. Say so long to her beautiful blonde locks, because Duff joins the ranks as the latest celeb to change up their hairstyle amid the coronavirus pandemic. With a lot of time on their hands, and no contractual obligations in place, many celebrities are switching up their hairstyles during quarantine from unique person cuts to wild, bold new colors. Just ask the 32-year-old actress, who recently ditched her blonde locks for a bright, bold new color.
While some think the hair change is simply a wig, others are calling the new neon blue locks a good look on her. One fan even joked, referencing a hit single of Duff’s saying, “Hilary, you’re right, the blonde was so yesterday. ? But seriously you look beautiful before and after and in general.” Tons of fans also referenced another of Duff’s singles ‘Sparks’ in which the music video Duff rocked long light blue locks. This look, however, is a bit more bold and bright.
Duff has been on social media a lot during the coronavirus pandemic, especially advocating for people to stay at home following lockdown orders. Duff took to Twitter a few weeks ago, unleashing on the younger generation who were refusing to stay inside and said “To all you young millennial a—holes that keep going out partying: go home. Stop killing old people please.” But it hasn’t all been blunt messages from Duff to her fans. On March 17, the singer and actress also shared a message of support saying, “I know for all the parents out there…. these days are tough to get through entertaining multiple little ones… becoming teachers, cooking, cleaning, no break, repeat …. people who can sit on their couch at home please be responsible and do so. We can get through this together if we all do what’s recommended.”
Duff isn’t the only celeb to be going through some hair changes over the past few weeks. With many celebs stuck inside, hair has been changing in a variety of ways. For Ariana Grande, she let the natural curls in and fans were here for it. Jennifer Love Hewitt went from her natural brown to a bright pink and looked chic as ever. With state-enforced lockdowns in place, other celebs had to take to cutting their own hair, and shared with the public, naturally. Just ask Carson Daly who had help from his son as he cut his hair live on NBC.
While fans are certainly cheering for Duff’s new hairdo, they also are chiming in about how they’re ready for new ‘Lizzie Maguire’. The reboot of the hit Disney Channel show was put on hold just a few weeks ago, with Duff taking to social media with an emotional plea asking Disney to move the show to Hulu. Duff explained that “I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30 year old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It’s important to me that just as her experiences as a preteen/teenager navigating life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable. It would be a dream if Disney would let us move the show to Hulu, if they were interested, and I could bring this beloved character to life again.” No word yet on when the reboot will officially be released.
