Shaun White Breaks Silence On Nina Dobrev Engagement Rumors

Is Shaun White ready to propose to his longtime girlfriend Nina Dobrev?

The two have been going strong ever since they met at an event organized by motivational speaker Tony Robbins in 2019. The couple moved in together at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and have spent the past year taking exotic trips to Costa Rica and Greece while sharing PDA-packed snaps of their adventures.

With their relationship seemingly stronger than ever, fans are left wondering... is Shaun ever going to pop the question?

On Thursday, October 27, the five-time retired Olympic snowboarder was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Gala. Shaun spoke to E! News at the event, where he revealed that he still had "so much to achieve in my life," despite his retirement from snowboarding earlier this year.

One of the first things on his post-retirement bucket list is to travel the world with "The Vampire Diaries" actress. He said, "After the Olympics, I told her, 'Let's go for it. Just lay it out there. I just want to go. I want to travel.'"

That immediately brought up the question of whether Shaun was ready to propose, but he played coy with his response. "Time will tell," he said before assuring fans that "Things are great with Nina and I, and I am so excited to focus on our relationship and my relationship with other friends and family."

Right now, he's just appreciative of her company as the two attempt to cross more things off his bucket list. "We've done a lot," he revealed. "After the Olympics, there's always like this emotional comedown, even if you win, and I was able to fill that time doing things with her, traveling around the world, seeing friends and family."

Their most memorable adventure was traveling to France to visit with Nina's mother. "It was just the best," he divulged. "These are those moments. You can have the glitz and glam of it all, but real family quality time with people is what I want for the most—and now I am doing that."

Although he might be a retired athlete, Shaun has no plans to give up his active lifestyle. Instead, he has founded a lifestyle company called Whitespace which he has been actively promoting on social media over the past few weeks.

"After years and years and years of working with brands, I finally decided at this point in my career...that I really wanted to do this and now is the time," he explained. "I can take all the expertise from working with these brands, the knowledge of snowboards themselves and product development, and put that all into my own thing."

Even if he is not still actively competing, Shaun is still hoping that he can make an impact on the world of snowboarding. "We are talking to some really talented young riders in this space and I am hoping to get them on the program and really help their careers," he continued. "That would really just be the full circle for me."

Back in February, a close friend of the couple told Page Six that it was likely Shaun White was going to propose to Nina Dobrev shortly after he got back from the Olympic Winter Games earlier this year. Although that didn't happen, the insider dished that the couple is "so freaking cute" together.

“They are so freaking cute and solid together,” one friend of the couple divulged to the outlet. “I would not be surprised if an engagement happens any day now.”

"They share so many interests, they’re both driven, they’re both into self-healing and well-being," they continued. "They’re both very spiritual and motivated. They’ve both worked so hard for so many years to make their own careers, so now they’ve decided that any free minute they get, they spend with each other."

Last October, Shaun told PEOPLE that he has a “beautiful relationship” with his girlfriend of two years. “Nina’s incredible,” he said. “What an influence on my life.”

“Not only does she run her own show, her own world, companies she’s involved in, things she’s producing, all this stuff going on,” he continued. “She holds me to this same high standard which is so wonderful to have in a partner.”
