Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga seemed to ignore the rules of the quarantine to honor their late father as a family, and who can blame them?
Although people around the country have been advised against joining together in groups of 10 or more people amid the coronavirus lockdown and told to be socially distant with one another, that reportedly wasn’t an option for Giudice and Gorga earlier this week as they said goodbye to their father, Giacinto Gorga, who passed away on April 3 following a bout with pneumonia.
According to a report from Hollywood Life on April 9, Giudice and Gorga bent the rules as they honored their father in with outdoor memorial with Giacinto Gorga‘s seven grandchildren.
“Despite the social distancing orders, it was really important for them to all come together and celebrate Nonno as a family. It’s such unfortunate timing, but the family really all wanted to be together and couldn’t imagine being apart,” a source explained.
In a video shared on Instagram, Giudice and Gorga’s children were seen releasing doves as others were seen gathering in the distance.
In Giudice’s Instagram video, her daughters, including Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana, who she shares with estranged husband Joe, were seen alongside Gorga’s kids, Antonia, Gino, and Joey, who he shares with wife Melissa.
Each of the children were dressed in all black as they released a pair of doves from white baskets as Andrea Bocelli’s “Con Te Partiro” played in the background.
“Today we set you free, fly high to Mommy,” Giudice wrote in the caption of her emotional Instagram clip.
According to the report, Giudice and Gorga continued to visit their ailing father in the hospital, even in the midst of the growing pandemic, because they didn’t want him to be alone.
“Teresa and Joe had been seeing each other at the hospital before their dad actually passed even during social distancing. They didn’t want him to be alone,” the Hollywood Life insider continued. “The kids and everyone else had been apart since Melissa has been in quarantine with her family.”
Following the memorial, the Giudice and Gorga family is considering a larger funeral in the funeral.
“The plan is for the family to have something in the future to honor Nonno. It’ll be in New Jersey when the coronavirus pandemic is over and it’s safe so everyone can celebrate his life. So many of Teresa’s friends had a relationship with her father and loved him,” the insider added.
Filming on the upcoming 11th season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey began in March but was halted soon after due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
