Rising Philadelphia model and rapper, Chyna Rogers, died in her apartment on Wednesday and it was said to be due to a drug overdose. According to People, that is the case as a spokesperson for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health has ruled it as an accidental drug overdose.

At the time of Rogers' death, her rep, John Miller, release a statement regarding her passing.

"I can regrettably confirm Chynna passed away today,” said her representative John Miller in an email. “Chynna was deeply loved and will be sorely missed."

Rogers had been buzzing on social media as on Instagram, she currently has 98,000 followers. She started off in the entertainment industry at a young age as she was discovered by Ford Models at the ate of 14. She went on to be signed by this agency the next day in New York City.

Shortly after her modeling career began to rise, music became a passion. She contacted A$AP Mob founder, A$AP Yams in 2013, who ended up passing away from a drug overdose in 2015.

Rogers released her first single that year with "Selfie." In 2015, she released her first EP with 'I'm Not Here. This Isn't Happening.' She followed up that project with her her 'Ninety' mixtape and 'Music 2 Die 2' EP. Rogers' 'In Case I Die First' was also released this past December, which would be her final project.

Rogers struggled with drug addition throughout the course of her career but took the initiative to go to rehab. She kept information about her addition private until she left rehab as well.

“I usually don’t express myself or get open about things until it’s in hindsight, and I’m not dealing with it anymore," said Rogers in a 2018 interview with Pitchfork. "That’s why I didn’t tell people that I was a drug addict until I got out of rehab,” she told the outlet. “I see a lot of artists decide they want to go through s— with their fans, and that’s cool because it gives your fans something to hold onto. But I need to handle it myself first, and then, when I’ve figured out how I want to word it, we can talk about it — y’all not about to go through it with me.”

Social media continues to show Rogers love as they recognized her talent, how great of a person she was, and are still in shock that things ended like this. One high-profile name who paid homage to Rogers on Instagram was SZA.

Prayers and condolences go out to Rogers' friends, family, and fans. She was extremely talented and it's sad to know that we weren't able to see the very best of her career at the time. She was definitely heading in that direction though.
