For the past year, Josh Nalley has made it a point to show that while he doesn't have any acting experience, he plays a dead guy really well. In an attempt to get a gig playing someone un-alived on a television show or in a movie, Nalley has posted more than 300 videos on TikTok of him playing the role of a dead person. And all his hard work has finally paid off.
Josh Nalley's Dream Has Finally Come True Being Cast On "CSI: Vegas"
In a video posted on TikTok on September 15, Nalley, 42, announced that his dream has finally come true. "After 321 days of playing un-alive I'm proud to announce I have been cast as an un-alive body in 'CSI: Vegas' season two." "CSI: Vegas" commented on the video writing, "I can’t wait to bring your dream to 💀life💀"
The Kentucky native was noticed on TikTok by show producers who decided to cast him in an upcoming episode. Nalley told the Courier Journal, part of the USA Today Network, "I got an email from CBS that said they'd seen me on TikTok and wanted to offer me the part. At first I didn't believe it, but they flew me out to California. It turned out that Mario Van Peebles was the director for that episode so besides getting cast in the show, I also go to meet him, which was great."
When Nally traveled to California to film his episode of the show, producers took him to the Hollywood Walk of Fame to film one of his un-alive videos next to a particular star. That's the video he used to announce his big news.
"They wanted me to post next to [CSI legend] Marg Helgenberger's star and had asked me to bring a towel to lay on because that sidewalk is really dirty, but I forgot," he explained. "So rather than lying facedown I kind of turned over on my side and played dead. The thing was the sidewalk was really, really hot."
Josh Nalley Posted More Than 300 Un-Alive Videos So Far
Nalley posted his first dead body video in October 2021 and has posted more than 300 since. He labels each video with the day and that he will continue posting until he gets cast in a movie or television show as an un-alived body. Each video offers a different scene and different dead body position. "I originally got this idea after seeing a woman on TikTok posting about hot sauce and then she got offers from a bunch of hot sauce companies," he explained. "I thought if I was creative enough playing an un-alive person, I could get the attention of a television show or a movie production company, and how about that, it worked."
For his big TV debut, Nalley had to lay very still on a gurney for about three or four hours to film the scene. "We had to redo one take because I had my phone in my pocket and forgot to turn it off. Of course, it was a telemarketer calling," he said. "That was kind of embarrassing."
Even though he got his wish to be on a television show, he doesn't plan to stop playing un-alive roles on TikTok anytime soon. He's received several offers to play a dead person, other than "CSI: Vegas." His big TV debut on "CSI: Vegas" airs on CBS on November 3.
