Chris Brown's Court Trial Over Alleged Rape At His Home Postponed

Chris Brown will no longer be taking the stand in court this month, with the civil trial over alleged rape at his home being pushed back.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a Los Angeles Court judge has taken the scheduled trial date of April 27 off the calendar.
A woman using the pseudonym Jane Doe is suing Brown and his friend Lowell Grissom Jr. over an alleged rape that went down in the singer’s home.
The court states due the decision was made due to the current health conditions and the need for social distancing. The order states the, “the court finds good cause to advance and vacate the final status conference and trial dates in this matter.”
A new trial date has yet to be scheduled. Prior to the trial been postponed, Brown was facing problems in the legal battle. Multiple lawyers representing the singer withdrew from representing the singer due to communication issues.
As The Blast first reported, in her lawsuit, Jane Doe claims she was sexually assaulted by Grissom at Brown’s Tarzana home in February 2017. Doe says she attended an after-party at Brown’s home where they tried to give her cocaine, molly, and marijuana.
Brown and Grissom have denied all allegations of wrongdoing. They believe the case should be dismissed.
His previous lawyer, Blair Berk, wrote to the court, “Over the past several months, Mr. Brown has not met his material obligations under the terms of our engagement letter, and has rendered it unreasonably difficult for Tarlow & Berk to carry out the representation effectively. Our relationship with Mr. Brown has come to a point where Tarlow & Brown and I can no longer adequately defend or represent him.”
At one point in the legal battle, Doe accused Brown of making it difficult to take his deposition. She pleaded with the court to force the singer to sit and be grilled about the case. A judge sided with Doe by granting her motion. Brown was ordered to sit for the depo and pay $2,500 in sanctions for dragging his feet.
The case is ongoing.
