Travis Scott can breathe a faint sigh of relief.
The “Sicko Mode” rapper is approaching the one-year anniversary of his deadly Astroworld Festival.
On November 5, 2021, Travis held his highly anticipated “Astroworld Festival” in Houston, TX at NRG Park.

The show turned deadly as the massive sea of fans surged toward the main stage in turn crushing and suffocating 10 concertgoers.
One family of an Astroworld victim has gotten some sense of closure and justice.
The family of Axel Acosta reached a settlement with Travis out of court after suing the rapper, Live Nation and others.
This is the first known settlement of all the lawsuits filed against Travis, Live Nation, Drake and more.
Acosta’s family attorney, Tony Buzbee, said the terms of the settlement are confidential, but his family wants people to remember him as a “beloved son, brother and student.”

The family added that he was “kind and loving” and is “greatly missed.”
The 21-year-old died from injuries he sustained during the deadly concert.
While this marks the first settled lawsuit, Travis still has a massive uphill legal battle.
As previously mentioned, 10 people died at his Astroworld Fest and more than 300 people were injured.
In the wake of the deadly tragedy, Travis was hit with multiple multi-million-dollar lawsuits, and one even was upwards of one-billion-dollars!
In March, the father-of-two announced an initiative he was taking part in to spread love and hope.
Travis Launched Project HEAL Following Astroworld Tragedy
In an Instagram post, the “SICKO MODE” rapper launched project HEAL, “a multi-tier initiative dedicated to addressing challenges facing today’s youth, especially those from marginalized at-risk communities.”
Project HEAL partners with Cactus Jack Foundation to unite initiatives that focus on social issues such as “academic scholarships, free mental health resources, a creative design center, and a first-ever, tech-driven solution for event safety.”

As explained in the post, the four key pillars of the initiative are:
- Waymon Webster HBCU Scholarship Fund
- Expansion of CACT.US Youth Design Center
- Mental Health Resources
- US Conference of Mayors and Tech-Driven Solutions for Event Safety.
Alongside the slideshow detailing information about Project Heal, Scott wrote a heartwarming message that began, “Over the past few months I’ve been taking the time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community. Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change.”
The Houston, Texas rapper declared that pursuing actionable change would be a “lifelong journey” for him and his family. Scott, who was blamed for staying silent and evading accountability during the Astroworld Festival, then called out corporations and institutions for staying in the shadows.
However, he shared his plan to be different and always step up in times of need as “a leader in my community.” Scott continued,
My team and I created Project HEAL to take much needed action towards supporting real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can possibly be. I will always honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever.
Concluding his statement, Scott noted that creating opportunities for youth has always been a cause dear to his heart. He described Project HEAL as a “catalyst to real change.”
