Former British PM Liz Truss Clowned On Twitter For Stepping Down

Liz Truss’ resignation announcement after 45 days as Prime Minister of Britainhas elicited a hilarious response from people online.

The former PM is being made fun of for her short stay as PM. After a mere 45 days, Truss has had it!

As she stood on No. 10 Downing on Thursday morning, she shared with views that she has spoken with King Charles III and handed in her resignation. She addressed the public. "Given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party.”

She also noted that she came into office during a time that was stressful for the world referencing rising money issues and Covid-19 cases rising again, and the war in Ukraine. It wasn’t all failure for Liz’s six-week run.

“We delivered on every bills and on cutting national insurance. We set out a vision for a low tax, high growth economy that would take advantage of the freedom of Brexit.” Truss can now see where she went wrong.

The 47-year-old may not have gone the distance but she did get another title of serving the shortest term as PM. This has led social media users to clown Truss about everything under the sun. The most popular shady joke belongs to a head of lettuce.

When Truss was elected, the Daily Star posted a tweet that said, "Day Seven: Which wet lettuce will last longer?” The publication was quick to post on Thursday that “THE LETTUCE HAS OFFICIALLY OUTLASTED LIZ TRUSS AND WON”

Jokingly following it up by saying, “ALL HAIL THE LETTUCE.” The cheeky tabloid also posted a video along with the caption, "The lettuce might as well be running the country.”

“Liz Truss quit now so she can spend tomorrow streaming Midnights by Taylor Swift without distraction,” shared a follower alongside a photo of the former PM with Taylor.
