Deadline reports that Morrison is set to play King Kahekili, the King of Maui, for the limited series.

The new project is a limited series for the streamer, written and created by Momoa and Thomas Pa'a Sibbett. "Chief of War" will be an eight-episode limited series on the epic tale of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from the point of view of its indigenous people.
Momoa will also star and executive produce the upcoming series. Morrison and Momoa previously worked together on Warner Bros. and DC's "Aquaman," with Morrison portraying Tom Curry, the human father of Aquaman, aka Arthur Curry. Additionally, he worked opposite Momoa beforehand in Momoa's other streaming television show, "Frontier," appearing as a sailor, Te Rangi, in the show's final season on Netflix.
Momoa recently wrapped the third season of his Apple TV+ series, "See," which recently finished airing the final season.
"Chief of War" is also being executive produced by Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend," "Constantine"), Peter Chenin, Jenno Topping, and Doug Jung ("Star Trek Beyond," "Dark Blue," "Big Love"), who is attached as series showrunner.
Before "Chief of War," Morrison will once again appear opposite Momoa in "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." After multiple delays, the DC Universe comic book superhero sequel is now scheduled for a December 25, 2023 release for the holiday season.
It's another auspicious television project for Morrison, who has recently appeared in multiple live-action "Star Wars" shows, including as Boba Fett in "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett," along with a small appearance as a Clone Trooper in "Obi-Wan Kenobi." He also voiced Boba Fett once again in the animated shorts TV series, "Star Wars: Visions."
This looks to be an interesting project for both actors, along with a fresh story about Hawaiian history that has never been told onscreen before. Meanwhile, Morrison continues to wrack up roles. He was recently cast in the premium Sundance television drama, "Far North."
Based on a true story, the upcoming show is set in Morrison's home country of New Zealand, and it's also being filmed in Ahipara, where the story took place. He stars in the show opposite Robyn Malcolm. They are described as an "everyday couple" who manage to somehow foil an international crime ring's largest deal ever made. The series is created by David White and written by White with Suli Moa and Minjian Cui.
It appears Morrison has a busy schedule lined up between his multiple film and TV roles. Another major film lined up for Morrison is another appearance as Tom Curry in DC's "The Flash," starring Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton. "The Flash" races into theaters on June 23, 2023.
