Iconic film Director John Waters once shared the story of how he saw the late actress Angela Lansbury at a sex club. The book, titled “Mr. Know-It-All: The Tarnished Wisdom of a Filth Elder,” detailed the experience, reading that the club was a dungeon-like sex environment where people hung out and explored their sexual desires.
In Walter’s story, he clarified that the actress was there just to hang out and said he saw her with several other celebrities. Water’s story resurfaced shortly after Lansbury’s death earlier this month at the age of 96. Her three kids had announced that the film icon had passed away peacefully in her home.
On the other hand, Waters will be directing an upcoming feature film adaptation of his novel, “Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance.” It’s his first time directing a film since he directed “A Dirty Shame” in 2004. In a statement, Waters shared his excitement to return to the director’s chair and said the book is the craziest thing he’s written in a long time.

John Waters Said He Saw Angela Lansbury At A Sex Club

In Water’s 2019 memoir, titled “Mr. Know-It-All: The Tarnished Wisdom of a Filth Elder,” he shared the story of when he saw the late Lansbury at a sex club back in the 80s. The sex club was reportedly called Hellfire and was a popular spot in New York City back then.
The “Cry-Baby” director claimed Lansbury was “checking out the scene” and described the club as a “dungeon-like sex club” which attracted “gay and straight perverts alike.” Waters is famously a big fan of Lansbury and later told Page Six that the night he saw her “may have been the only night she was there, but just her presence made Hellfire a little more welcoming.”
He Said The Legendary Actress Was Just Hanging Out There

The story of Water’s encountering Lansbury at the sex club recently surfaced in LGBTQ Nation after the “Murder She Wrote” star passed this month at 96. In the story, the director also described the crowd at the club as people who came to mix together or “just plain voyeuring like happy sex tourists.”
However, he clarified that Lansbury was obviously there just to hang out, not participate in sexual activities. The “Hairspray” director said, “Everybody went. She wasn’t doing anything. Hellfire was a straight, gay bar [where] people had sex.”
Waters continued, “You would be standing there talking about the new novel of Alain Robbe-Grillet, and a [penis] would come through a glory hole, and then you just move down” to a different location.”
Angela Lansbury Recently Passed At 96

Lansbury died just five days before her 97th birthday, but according to her three kids, she passed peacefully in her sleep. The actress was famed for her roles in “Beauty and the Beast” and “Murder, She Wrote.” Her film career spanned eight decades and featured her acting with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
The Irish-British and American actress was nominated for ten Golden Globes for her role as Jessica Fletcher in “Murder, She Wrote” and won four of the awards. In 2013, she was awarded an Honorary Academy Award as a recognition of her extensive and iconic acting career.
John Waters Is Directing For The First Time Since 2004

On the other hand, Waters is finally returning to the director’s seat for the feature film “Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance,” adapted from his novel of the same name. It will be his first time directing since the premiere of “A Dirty Shame” in 2004. The movie will be produced by Steve Rabineau and Village Roadshow Entertainment.
Waters, who is also writing the screenplay for the film, released a statement confirming his return to film. He wrote per Vulture, “‘Liarmouth’ is the craziest thing I’ve written in a while, so maybe it’s fitting that my novel was shocking enough to jumpstart the engine of my film career. Thrilled to be back in the movie business, hopefully to spread demented joy to adventuresome moviegoers around the world.”
