A lot of discussion has been had about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle leaving the royal family. People have debated everything from how they would earn an income to where they would live and whether or not it was OK for them to use the word royal.
Perhaps one of the biggest concerns for many has been the subject of security. Fights were had over who would pay and how security would be provided. We now seem to have an answer.
While there were many reasons for Harry and Meghan to walk away from royal life, security was a top concern. According to the Duke of Sussex, the British press was a danger to Meghan and he wanted to remove his family from that environment. Harry has blamed the media for his mother’s death on more than one occasion.
In fact, even after moving to Canada, the couple issued a cease and desist order against the paparazzi. They cited reckless driving and camping outside their homes as reasons for the order.
Reports said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex _did maintain some security after they moved to Canada. They were said to have had fifteen security guards working for them. The guards were spread across three houses and a few lived with Harry and Meghan in their home.
There was much debate over these guards, however. Petitions had gone around with many private citizens of Canada insisting that they did not want their taxpayer money to be used to provide security for the Sussexes.
Security is one of the top reasons Hollywood insiders claimed it would be difficult for Duchess Meghan to revive her acting career. They admitted that they would love for Meghan to return to acting and would actually “run to the phone” if she were to call. But the hassle of providing security for her was too big of an issue.
Sources now say that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have actually taken the leap and moved to Los Angeles, making this an even bigger concern.
Well, it looks like the Sussexes will be receiving a little bit of help to see them through their transition to financial independence. While taxpayers and the palace will not be providing funds for Harry and Meghan’s security, sources say Prince Charles is likely to foot the bill.
Reports indicate the Prince of Wales is willing to offer up $2.5 million to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Word has not yet been revealed on what that money would be spent on, but some believe it is very likely security will be paid for using this money.
