Princess Kate Plans To Extend An Olive Branch To The Duchess Of Sussex
A source revealed to Us Weekly that Princess Kate has plans to work on her relationship with Meghan Markle during her upcoming Boston trip with Prince William. The source said, “Once Kate and William’s Boston plans are set in stone, she’s planning to extend an olive branch to Meghan in a bid to reunite the brothers and heal the rift.”
They explained that Kate’s plans are inspired by what the Late Queen Elizabeth and the Late Princess Diana “would’ve wanted” for them. The source also said, “Harry and Meghan are knee deep with their hectic schedules, but Meghan is willing to put in the effort as long as dates don’t clash.”
Rumors Of A Rift Between Kate Middleton And Meghan Markle Began In 2018
Kate and Meghan’s complicated relationship has been extensively covered and followed by the press. Rumors of the rift surfaced in 2018, shortly after Meghan and Harry’s wedding. Some stated that the two women had disagreed over several aspects of the wedding, and it had soured their budding relationship.
Two years later, when Meghan and Harry announced their decision to step back from their senior royal positions, the crack between them widened further. During that time, Meghan and Harry had a tell-all interview with CBS, during which she addressed the rumors of the wedding feud.
She said, “A few days before the wedding, [Kate] was upset about flower girl dresses and it made me cry. It really hurt my feelings. It was a really hard week of the wedding. And she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologized. And she brought me flowers and a note, apologizing.”
Princess Kate And Meghan Markle Have Spoken About Their Relationship
Meghan also spoke about how the British press has pitted her and Kate against each other and influenced negative public opinions. The “Bench” author said, “I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity, where if you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”
A source later revealed to Us Weekly that Kate felt that her relationship with Meghan had been misunderstood. The Princess hasn’t spoken about the feud publicly or addressed any of Meghan’s statements. The two women are now trying to repair the cracks in their relationship and bring their families closer.
The source said, “Kate has been reaching out to Meghan a lot more since [Lilibet] was born, she’s sending [notes and] gifts and trying to build up a relationship. The firm has been instructing staffers to reach out more to Harry and Meghan to get them to soften a bit.”
The Families Publicly Reunited At Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral
Meghan, Kate, and their husbands publicly reunited at Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral last month. The two couples were photographed greeting crowds of mourners in Windsor, England, where preparation for the monarch’s funeral was taking place. They walked along the crowds together and seemed to have a comfortable relationship with each other.
They also appeared together for the grandchildren’s vigil of Queen Elizabeth’s coffin and again for her funeral procession and service. The outings marked the first time the brothers and their wives appeared in public together since Harry and Meghan moved to America.
