Isaiah Washington Put His Foot In His Mouth

The actor, 59, seemingly alluded that Aaliyah wasn’t the R&B singer’s victim at all, she knew exactly what she doing, making boss moves apparently. Someone invited this guy onto VladTv where he got to spit his rhetoric about what he believes really went down between the two.

He appeared in Romeo Must Die with Aaliyah in 2001 before her death, so he was very qualified to talk about the situation. They asked him about his time with her on set. First, Washington, who, keep in mind, was 38 and the time and the singer was a fresh 21, admitted he had a crush on her. Dubbing her as “mysterious”.

He went on to keep talking about the “One in a Million” singer instead of focusing on his career. He started in about her relationship with R. Kelly, a now convicted sex offender and he stated this little gem:

“She was very in control of her being, but she was a businesswoman too. Super smart. I think she was in control of that situation even at her age.”

Knowing that he likes to push people’s buttons, he has dubbed himself the “disruptor” before going on to clarify his statement. “She was 15 going on 30, so she was in control of that whole situation.”

Isaiah Washington Isn’t “Judging’ Aaliyah

The actor went on to say there is no shame in the singer's game she was doing what she wanted to do. “I don’t judge her, but she was very smart and very mature and very in control of her situation. I don’t believe one minute that Aaliyah was made to do anything that Aaliyah didn’t want to do.”

Washington’s interview eventually pivoted and he finally got back to the topic of his other jobs in Hollywood and the sour note his career took. But, listeners were too stuck on his unpleasant conversation about Aaliyah.

Of course, VladTv’s YouTube comments were blowing up with fans calling him a “creep” and specifically asking the hosts why they invited “this man” on their show and “engaged” in conversations about the deceased singer with him.
