Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino is working with the New Jersey State Government to urge people in the garden state to stay home during the Coronavirus outbreak. The reality star posted a PSA about the situation, and now many are questioning the use of the Sitch for this important task.
The video, shared by the New Jersey State Government’s official Twitter page, features Sorrentino sitting in a chair with his standard black t-shirt and hat backward warning people about the virus.
“WE GOT A SITUATION?Listen to @ItsTheSituation – we know Jersey loves to party but TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. STAY HOME and #FlattenTheCurve. The comeback is always greater than the setback,” they tweeted.
The video begins with MS saying into the camera, “This message is for the people, by the people: We got a situation.”
He continued, “New Jersey is tough…We love to party and we love even harder. But the time for parties is over. In fact, some of us are prolonging this pandemic by not following simple guidelines.”
Sorrentino urged citizens of the state to practice social distancing, saying, “Be smart and do your part to flatten the curve. Stay home, be positive, and practice social distancing. The comeback is always greater than the setback.”

Mike ended his speech by telling his fellow citizens, “We got this, New Jersey.”
Earlier this month, the Governor of New Jersey issues an executive order prohibiting any parties, celebrations and other social events amid the virus outbreak. He ordered residents not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
Several people were upset about the state using Sorrentino for this PSA and slammed them on Twitter.
“ANYONE BUT THIS DOOFUS! Come on @NJGov you can do better,” one tweet read. “I’m just not a big fan of taking advice from criminals. I’ll stick with scientists and healthcare providers. We have REALLY good scientists and healthcare providers in NJ,” another added.
But, a few fans had his back, posting supportive messages in reaction to his video.
“This is why BDS rules. He’s turned his life around so much now THE GOVERNMENT goes to HIM for help! Proud of you Mike!” one tweet read.
“This guy has turned his life around and is now a positive influence for all. Why go at him like that!? Everyone makes mistakes. Mike has paid the price. I’m sure there are some skeletons hanging around in your closet.”
Either way, he got the public talking, job well done!
