Ezra Miller Pleaded NOT Guilty To The Felony Burglary Charges
Per Deadline, The "Fantastic Beasts" actor pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against them by the Vermont State police two months ago. They were allowed to appear quite early at the Green Mountain State Superior Court's criminal division, where Miller was ordered to stay away from their neighbor, Isaac Winokur, whose home they allegedly entered and burgled. They were also told not to interact with another Vermont resident, Aiden Early.
Miller could get sentenced to prison for up to 26 years if found guilty and fined $2,000 due to the nature of the crime they reportedly committed. Also, the actor is to appear again before Judge Kerry A. McDonald-Cadyat on an unannounced date to continue the court proceedings for the ongoing case. This appearance could be done in person or virtually.
The felony burglary charge against Miller involved the actor allegedly breaking into their neighbor's house and making away with "several bottles of alcohol." Per Deadline, the police report read, "On 05/01/2022 at approximately 1755 hours, the Vermont State Police was notified of a burglary complaint at a residence on County Road in the town of Stamford, Vermont. The initial findings indicated that several bottles of alcohol were taken from within the residence while the homeowners were not present."
Along with this case, Miller has made several headlines this year for all the wrong reasons.
'The Flash' Actor Has Had Several Controversies This Year
Miller has had several controversies throughout this year. The actor was arrested twice in Hawaii earlier this year for disorderly conduct and harassment. Not long after this, they were hit with a felony burglary charge in Vermont.
Later that year, Rolling Stone published an investigation it had done on Miller, exposing their alleged crimes. The exposé piece revealed that Miller was housing a mother and her three kids on their Vermont ranch. Asides from housing the young family, Miller also used the property as an unlicensed cannabis farm and kept several firearms strewn about.
An Insider piece later revealed more allegations against Miller. Several parents accused the actor of grooming their kids and said they'd filed protective orders against the "The Flash" actor. They also claimed that Miller had created a cult environment at their ranch, brainwashed the kids into believing they were queer, and supplied them with drugs.
Warner Bros Is Still Working With Ezra Miller
Despite the numerous accusations and arrests, Warner Bros is still working with Miller towards the release of "The Flash" movie on June 23rd, 2023. The actor finally released a public apology in August after the studio announced it was considering terminating the film as a final resort.
Their rep released a statement to Variety, stating the actor had decided to seek professional treatment. It read, "Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment."
Miller continued, "I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life."
Issa Rae Slammed Hollywood's Support Of Ezra Miller
During a recent profile for Elle, Rae spoke about her disdain for Hollywood's support of Miller. She said, "While I don't support people jumping to immediate conclusions and I think it's entirely fair for investigations to happen, I think it's extremely important to, like the mantra says, 'Listen to women.'"
Rae continued, "I'm gonna be real, the stuff that's happening with Ezra Miller is, to me, a microcosm of Hollywood. There's this person who's a repeat offender, who's been behaving atrociously, and as opposed to shutting them down and shutting the production down, there's an effort to save the movie and them."
The "Insecure" star also said it's a clear example of how far Hollywood "will go to save itself and to protect offenders." She said it prevents women from thriving in the industry and keeps them worried about "ruining their careers." Rae also said it's a "pattern of abuse that'll only persist if Hollywood continues to insist on being this way."
